Alright, let’s talk about this LIV Golf, you know, the one with all them fellas and their fancy golf clubs. I heard folks talking ’bout it, so I figured I’d try and make sense of it all, ratings and such. Don’t expect no fancy words from me, I’m just gonna tell it like it is, like I see it.
So, first off, they got this TV deal, right? With some channel called the CW. Now, I watch my stories on TV, but I ain’t never heard of this CW before. Anyways, they started showing this LIV Golf on there, and seems like not a whole lotta folks are watchin’. I heard tell they only got, what, less than 300,000 folks watchin’ on average? That don’t sound like much to me. Not like when them big football games are on, everyone and their dog is watchin’ those.
Heard some numbers got a bit better lately though. They say more folks watched at the start of this year, like 400,000 or somethin’ in Mexico. But then it went down again in Las Vegas, back to near 300,000. It’s like a rollercoaster, up and down, up and down. Can’t seem to make up its mind, this golf thing.
Now, they say this LIV Golf is supposed to be some big deal, with all that money they throwin’ around. But if nobody’s watchin’, what’s the point, right? It’s like bakin’ a big ol’ apple pie and nobody comin’ to eat it. Just sits there gettin’ cold and lonely.
I also heard tell this Jon Rahm fella, he won somethin’ and only 89,000 folks watched. That’s even less! Seems like even when they got a big winner, folks ain’t too interested. Makes you wonder, don’t it?
- They got a TV deal, that’s somethin’.
- But not many folks watchin’, that’s a problem.
- Numbers go up and down, like a see-saw.
- Big money, but not big audience.
They keep talkin’ ’bout ratings and Nielsen and all that, but honestly, it just sounds like a bunch of mumbo jumbo to me. All I know is, if people wanna watch somethin’, they’ll watch it. If they don’t, they won’t. Simple as that.
Now, this PGA Tour, that’s the golf I used to hear about all the time. Seems like they’re havin’ their own troubles too, not gettin’ as many eyeballs as they used to. But even with their troubles, they still got way more folks watchin’ than this LIV Golf. It’s like a big fish and a little fish, the big fish still bigger, even if it’s a little skinny.
And get this, they even stopped tryin’ to get official recognition from some golf rankin’ folks. I guess they figured it wasn’t worth the trouble. Maybe they just wanna do their own thing, be their own kind of golf, even if nobody’s watchin’.
I don’t know, maybe it’ll catch on, maybe it won’t. Time will tell, I guess. Maybe they need to get some more excitin’ players, or maybe they need to make the golf more fun to watch. Heck, maybe they need to give away free pies to get folks to tune in! Now, that’s an idea I could get behind.
But for now, it seems like this LIV Golf is still tryin’ to find its way, tryin’ to get folks to care. And from what I hear, they got a long way to go. They can throw all the money they want at it, but if nobody’s watchin’, it’s just like shoutin’ into the wind.
Anyways, that’s my two cents on this whole LIV Golf ratings thing. Like I said, I ain’t no expert, just tellin’ it like I see it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my own pies. At least I know somebody’ll eat those.
