Alright, so the other day, I got it into my head that I needed to figure out this whole “little league speed conversion” thing. You know, like, how fast is a 70 mph fastball in Little League compared to the majors? It’s been bugging me, so I decided to finally crack the code.
I started by hitting up the internet, just browsing around to see what I could find. There are some thoughts about how to convert miles per hour to feet per second, or miles per hour to kilometers per hour. That’s cool and all, but not exactly what I was looking for. I wanted the real deal, the comparison between youth leagues and the pros.
Then it hit me, I was thinking about what else I could get. Strength training, tips, tricks? Yeah, those are important, but they’re not gonna help me with this conversion mystery. I kept reading and found something interesting about how kids can actually get way faster if they train consistently. That’s awesome for them, but again, not what I needed right now. I need numbers, data, something to compare.
I stumbled upon this one site, which talked about these “handy charts” that could compare pitch speeds across different age groups. Bingo! That’s the ticket! I just needed to find the way, but this was my goal. I did some digging, and finally, I could use a simple formula to get to what I wanted, it is so easy to be ignored. And what I really want to know is the speed conversion, to multiply the speed in miles per hour by a number.
So, after all that searching and digging, I finally got my head around this little league speed conversion thing. It is very simple. It wasn’t as simple as I thought it would be at first, but hey, that’s how these things go, right? You start with a simple question, and next thing you know, you’re down a rabbit hole of speeds and ages.
Anyway, I just wanted to share my little adventure. Maybe it’ll help someone else out there who’s been scratching their head over the same thing. Or maybe you’ll just get a kick out of my little quest for knowledge. Either way, I’m glad I finally figured it out. Now, onto the next brain-teaser!
