Hey there, y’all! Let’s talk about this “choke crossword” thing, ya know? I ain’t no fancy scholar, but I can tell ya a thing or two about them puzzles. Always see folks fiddlin’ with ’em in the newspapers.
What’s a Choke Crossword Anyway?
Well, from what I gather, it’s just like them regular crosswords, but maybe a bit harder, ya know? Like, they really make ya scratch yer head and think hard. Sometimes I just wanna choke the person who made the darn thing, it’s so tricky! Heh, that’s probably why they call it that, I reckon.
Them Different Days and Their Puzzles
Now, I heard tell that them puzzles ain’t all the same on different days. Like, on Monday, they’re supposed to be easy-peasy. You know, clues that just tell ya straight-up what the answer is. No messin’ around. But then, come Saturday, Lord have mercy! Them clues get all twisted and turned, and ya gotta be some kinda genius to figure ’em out. They use all them fancy words and stuff.
- Monday: Easy as pie. Just look at the clue and you pretty much got the answer.
- Saturday: Hard as a rock! Clues got twists and turns, makes your head spin.
- Sunday: Now, you’d think Sunday would be the hardest, right? Nope! They’re just bigger, is all. More squares to fill in, but the clues ain’t as bad as Saturday’s. Like a medium-hard, I guess you could say.
Them Spirals and Clues, Oh My!
I seen some of them crosswords, they got them spirals and stuff. Now, that’s a whole ‘nother level of confusion, let me tell ya! You got these “inward” clues and “outward” clues. Sounds like somethin’ you’d hear down at the feed store, talkin’ about nails and screws.
So, the “inward” clues, ya gotta fill ’em in goin’ one way, and the “outward” ones, ya gotta go the other way. Counterclockwise and clockwise, I think they call it. Makes my head hurt just thinkin’ about it!
You start fillin’ in them little squares, one letter at a time. It’s like plantin’ seeds in the garden, I guess, but ‘stead of growin’ tomatoes, you’re growin’ words.
Why Bother with These Choke Crosswords?
Now, you might be askin’ yourself, why bother with these darn things? They seem like a whole lotta trouble. Well, I reckon some folks just like a good challenge. Keeps their minds sharp, ya know? Like doin’ them Sudoku things, or whatever they’re called. Keeps ya from gettin’ all foggy-brained.
And I guess it’s kinda satisfyin’ when ya finally figure out a real tough clue. Like, “Aha! I got it!” Makes ya feel all smart and whatnot. Even if you did have to cheat a little and look up the answer in the back of the book. Don’t tell nobody I said that!
Making Memories and Stuff
You know, it’s kinda like them folks who make them photo albums and stuff. They take all them pictures and put ’em together to remember things. Like Christmas, or birthdays, or that time the cow got loose and chased the mailman down the road. Good times! They say over 10,000 folks looked at them picture thingies last month. That’s a whole lotta people lookin’ at pictures!
Well, maybe doin’ these crosswords is like that too. You’re makin’ memories in your head, workin’ through them clues and fillin’ in them squares. And when ya finish one, ya feel like ya accomplished somethin’. Even if it’s just a silly ol’ crossword.
So, there ya have it. My two cents on these “choke crosswords.” They ain’t for the faint of heart, that’s for sure. But if ya like a good brain teaser, and ya ain’t afraid to get a little frustrated, then go ahead and give ’em a try. Just don’t blame me if ya end up wantin’ to choke somebody! Heh.
Final words
These crosswords can be hard, but like the folks puttin’ pictures in books, it’s all about keepin’ your mind sharp and maybe havin’ a little fun along the way. Now, I gotta go feed them chickens. They don’t care about no fancy crosswords, that’s for sure!
