Okay, so I’ve been trying to get my golf swing in better shape, and I keep hearing about this “Andrew Waterman” guy. I figured I’d give his method a shot and document the whole thing. Here’s how it went:
First Steps: Finding the Info
I started by just searching around to see some of his videos. I found a bunch of stuff, some drills, some explanations – it was a bit all over the place, to be honest.
The Core Idea (I Think!)
From what I gathered, Waterman’s big on a certain type of body motion. It’s less about swinging your arms and more about, like, rotating your whole torso. I watched a few videos about it. Important: try the drills without a ball first.
My Practice Sessions
- Day 1: Feeling Awkward. I spent like an hour in my backyard just trying to get the basic move down. It felt super weird. My arms felt like they were just along for the ride. I definitely wasn’t hitting the ball very far, or very straight.
- Day 2: A Little Better. I started to get a little bit of a feel for it. The key, I think, is to really focus on that core rotation. Still, I was slicing the ball like crazy.
- Day 3: Using a towel. I used a towel under both arms and tried to do the movement. It made a difference. I started to rotate my body with more control.
- Day 4: Hitting the Range. Okay, time for the real test. I went to the driving range, and… well, it was mixed. Some shots were surprisingly good! Nice and straight, decent distance. But others were total disasters. Consistency is NOT there yet.
- Day 5: More Range Time. I focused on trying to repeat that good feeling from the decent shots. It’s like I have to remind my body what to do every single time. I did notice that when I got the rotation right, the ball went way straighter.
My Takeaways (So Far)
It’s definitely a different way of thinking about the golf swing. It’s not a quick fix, that’s for sure. But, I can see the potential. It makes my swing feel much more simple.
Pros:
- When I do to feel better, the ball flies much straighter.
- It’s less tiring.
Cons:
- Super inconsistent right now.
- The swing feels totally strange at first.
I’m going to keep at it and see if I can get more consistent. I’ll update this if I have any major breakthroughs… or breakdowns!
