Well, let me tell you somethin’ about this Keith Dambrot fella. He ain’t no spring chicken, that’s for sure. He’s been around the block a few times, coachin’ basketball. Heard he coached at that Duquesne place. Sounds fancy, don’t it?
This Dambrot guy, he’s got a whole lotta wins under his belt. Hundreds, I reckon. They say he was coachin’ there at Duquesne for seven years. Seven whole years! That’s a long time to be yellin’ at those boys runnin’ up and down the court.
Now, I heard he ain’t coachin’ no more. Hung up his whistle, they say. Decided to retire. Probably tired of all that hollerin’ and runnin’ around. Gets to a point where you just wanna sit back and watch the game on the TV, I suppose.
- He coached a lot of games.
- He won a lot of games.
- He coached at Duquesne.
- He’s retired now.
They say he even coached that LeBron James fella, you know, the one always on the television. Coached him when he was just a young’un in high school. Imagine that! Must be somethin’ to tell your grandkids, right? “Yep, I coached LeBron James.”
This Dambrot, he was a coach for a long time before Duquesne, too. Coached at some other schools, places I ain’t never heard of. Akron, they call it. Sounds like somethin’ you’d find in a tire shop, don’t it? He was there for a good long while, too, I hear. 2004 he started at this place and coached there for many years, I heard.
They say this Keith Dambrot hit 500 wins. 500! That’s more than I can count on my fingers and toes, that’s for sure. I heard he got that big win not too long ago, in 2023. Good for him, I say.
Seems like he was pretty good at this coachin’ thing. Won a lot of games, coached a lot of young men. Probably taught ’em a thing or two about life, too, not just basketball. That’s what a good coach does, ain’t it? Teaches you more than just the game.
Now, they got some other fella takin’ over for him at Duquesne. Dru Joyce III, I think they said his name was. He was a teammate of that LeBron James, I reckon. Seems like everybody’s connected to that LeBron fella somehow.
I heard that one of his assistant coach, David Smart, he got fired from the New York Knicks. Now, that place is far away from the Duquesne. I heard he is coaching at Arkansas now. There is also another coach named Eric Musselman, I don’t know what he does. But there are so many people in this basketball thing, too many for me to remember.
But this Keith Dambrot, he’s the one they’re talkin’ about now. ‘Cause he’s done. Finished. Time to hang up the shoes and call it a day. He had a good run, I reckon. Won a lot of games, made a name for himself. Not bad for a basketball coach, I suppose.
So, that’s all I know about this Keith Dambrot. He’s a coach, he’s retired, and he won a whole heap of games. And he coached that LeBron James. That’s the gist of it, I reckon. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I got some chores to do. These dishes ain’t gonna wash themselves, you know. And them chickens needs feedin’, too. This Duquesne Dukes men’s basketball ain’t gonna help with that, I can tell you that much. Coach Dambrot and Keith Dambrot are probably relaxing somewhere and don’t have to worry about these things.
Yep, a man like that, coaching all them years. Must have seen a lot of basketballs bouncing. Heard a lot of whistles blowing. Seen a lot of boys grow into men. Bet he’s got some stories to tell. Wish I could sit down with him sometime, have a cup of coffee, and listen to those stories. Bet they’d be somethin’ to hear. He probably worked hard all his life, that Keith Dambrot.
But that’s life, ain’t it? You work hard, you do your best, and then one day, you’re done. Time to pass the torch to the next fella. That’s just the way it is. And that is all about this Keith Dambrot. Well, time for me to do some chores, bye!
