Okay, so I’ve been seeing these Jordan baseball cleats around, especially the ones tied to Derek Jeter, and I gotta say, they look pretty slick. I mean, who wouldn’t want to rock some Jordans on the baseball field, right? I decided to give them a try, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey.
First off, I learned that you can actually snag these cleats through something called “Diamond Dynasty programs.” I guess they offer exclusive rewards, and these cleats are part of the deal. Sounds cool, but I’m not exactly a pro gamer. I’ve also seen people talking about getting them through some “MLB The Show Companion App” by playing games on something called “Playbite” but honestly I don’t have any idea of that.
Then there’s the whole debate about wearing baseball cleats for football. I mean, they’re both cleats, right? Turns out, it’s a bad idea. Apparently, metal cleats are a no-go in football, and the molded ones don’t give you the right kind of support for all those quick cuts and moves. You’re basically asking for an injury. Good to know, I guess I’ll stick to using them for baseball only.
Speaking of support, I found out that good baseball cleats are supposed to have excellent ankle support. Makes sense, you don’t want to roll your ankle sliding into a base. The high-top ones apparently offer even more support. I went with a pair of high-tops, just to be safe.
- Get cleats: Check.
- High-tops for ankle support: Check.
- Don’t wear them for football: Check.
I also did a little digging into the history of these cleats. Turns out, Jeter was the first guy besides Michael Jordan himself to wear the Jordan brand on the field. Now, you can find Jordan 12s as cleats. Pretty cool how far things have come.
There’s this one special edition shoe I came across that’s got details from nine of Jeter’s most memorable moments. It’s got some fancy-sounding stuff like a “full-length Phylon midsole” and a “nub” whatever those are. I just know they look pretty awesome. I’m not sure I’m good enough to deserve those yet, though. I did some reading on that and it seems there is a connection between Derek Jeter and Michael Jordan and some kind of complete history, whatever that means.
The Real Test
Now, the moment of truth: actually playing in them. First time on the field, I definitely felt a little extra swag. Like, I was ready to hit some dingers and make some diving catches. Did they magically make me a better player? Nah, not really. But they were comfortable, and I definitely felt secure in them, especially around my ankles.
I tried to figure out where to get those gloves that match with the cleats but no luck. Someone said you have to complete the Derek Jeter storyline to get the diamond Jordan cleats. I don’t even know what that means. Maybe someday I’ll get to that level.
All in all, I’m happy with my Jordan cleats. They look cool, they feel good, and they give me a little boost of confidence, even if it’s just in my head. Would I recommend them? Sure, if you’re into baseball and want to add a little something extra to your game, why not? Just don’t expect them to turn you into Derek Jeter overnight. But hey, at least you’ll look good trying.
