Okay, so today I decided to do a little experiment comparing Jiri and Alex. I’ve been hearing some buzz about both, so I wanted to see what the fuss was about, and more importantly, see which one I liked better for my own workflow.

Getting Started
First things first, I needed to get both tools up and running. I went ahead and grabbed the latest version of Jiri and Alex. Installation process for both was, thankfully, pretty smooth. Nothing too complicated, just followed the basic instructions, and boom, I was ready to go.
My Little Test Project
I didn’t want to overcomplicate things for this initial test. So, I created a super simple project. You know, something basic to get a feel for how each tool handles the fundamentals. I figured a straightforward task list would do the trick. Basic stuff: add tasks, mark them as complete, maybe delete a few.
Jiri’s Turn
I started with Jiri. The interface was pretty clean. I started inputting my tasks, and It was easy to add and remove them. The process very intuitive.
Alex’s Go
Next up, Alex. It’s interface it’s kind of similar. Adding tasks, check. Marking them done, check. Deleting, check. So far, very similar in terms of the basic functionality.
The Real Difference
So, if they’re both handling the basics, what’s the real difference? Honestly, for this simple project, it came down to personal preference, I feel more smooth on Jiri.

My Two Cents
For my super simple test project, Jiri felt a bit more my style, and I did feel a very small performance difference. But, to be completely honest, for basic tasks, both Jiri and Alex did the job just fine!
This was just a quick and dirty comparison. I’ll definitely need to play around with both tools more, especially with more complex projects, to really see where they shine. But for now, that’s my initial take on Jiri vs. Alex!
