You know that Jay Norvell? That fella, he’s a big shot in the football world, I tell ya. He’s what they call a head coach. Big cheese, you see? He’s coachin’ them Colorado State Rams now. Big team, that one.
He’s been coachin’ them boys since, oh, I reckon it was December of 2021. Time flies when you’re havin’ fun, don’t it? Before that, he was coachin’ some other team, I forget the name. Something with a wolf, I think. Yeah, that’s it, a wolf pack. He did good with them, too. Took ’em to some fancy bowl games.
This Jay Norvell, he ain’t just some fella off the street, you know. He used to play football himself, way back when. Musta been good, too, to get where he is now. I reckon he knows all them football plays and such. He’s the 24th coach for them Colorado State Rams. That’s a lot of coaches, ain’t it?
He was born a long time ago, in 1963. That makes him older than my youngest boy. He is an American, you know, born and raised. He’s got a fancy name, too, Merritt James Norvell III. Sounds like a movie star, don’t it? But everyone just calls him Jay Norvell.
He became the coach for them Colorado State Rams in 2022.
Before that team with the wolf, where was he? Oh, I don’t remember. My memory ain’t what it used to be. He was all over the place, coachin’ different teams. He surely knows his football, that Jay Norvell. Been doin’ it all his life, seems like.
You know, that football, it’s a rough game. Lots of runnin’ and pushin’ and shovin’. But them boys seem to like it. And that Jay Norvell, he’s right there in the thick of it, tellin’ ’em what to do. He must have a loud voice to yell over all that racket.
I seen him on the TV once, yellin’ at them players. He sure gets fired up! But I reckon that’s what a good coach does. Gotta keep them boys in line. Gotta make ’em work hard. That’s how you win them games, you see. And he takes them Colorado State Rams to win, you bet!

I bet his mama’s proud of him. All that success. Head coach of a big football team. That’s somethin’ to be proud of, alright. He’s done good for himself, that Jay Norvell. He surely has. I wonder if he ever comes back to visit his old mama. I hope he does. Mothers like that, you know.
So, that’s Jay Norvell. A football coach. A good one, from what I hear. He’s got a big job, coachin’ them Colorado State Rams. But he can handle it. He’s a tough one, that Jay Norvell. He’ll get them boys in shape. He’ll make ’em winners. You just wait and see.
He’s got that fire in his belly. You can see it in his eyes. He wants to win. And he’ll do whatever it takes to make it happen. That’s the kind of coach you want, ain’t it? Someone who’s gonna fight for ya. Someone who’s gonna push ya to be your best. That’s Jay Norvell.
I reckon he spends a lot of time watchin’ them football films. Tryin’ to figure out what the other team’s gonna do. Tryin’ to come up with a plan to beat ’em. It’s like a big game of chess, ain’t it? Except with a lot more sweat and muscle. He is surely smart to play this game well. I saw he is good at this chess game. That is why Colorado State Rams got him.
Well, I’ve been ramblin’ on about Jay Norvell long enough. I got chores to do. Chickens to feed. Gardens to weed. Life goes on, even for football coaches. But I’ll be keepin’ an eye on him. Seein’ how he does with them Colorado State Rams. I’m rootin’ for him. Hope he does good. He is a good boy.
