Alright, let’s talk about this fella, Isaiah Johnson. Don’t know much about him fancy folks, but I’ll tell ya what I heard, the way I understand it. Folks tell me he’s some kinda football player. You know, the ones that run around and smack into each other? Yeah, one of them.

Now, they say he was born in December. Don’t rightly know the year, these young’uns and their birthdates, hard to keep track. But December, that’s cold weather time, maybe that’s why he’s so tough, huh? Gotta be tough to play that football, I reckon.
Heard tell he started playin’ ball at some place called Western Carolina. Sounds fancy. But then something happened, they say he got a “medical redshirt.” Don’t know what that means, maybe he got hurt? Poor fella. But seems like he got better, ‘cause he kept on playin’.
- They say he’s a big fella, 6 foot 2, they tell me. That’s taller than my Billy, and he was a big boy. And 208 pounds? That’s a lot of meat on them bones!
- And this “wingspan” they talk about. I guess that means his arms are long. Makes sense, gotta reach out and grab that ball, don’t ya?
Folks on the TV, they call him a “scout’s dream.” Now, I ain’t never seen no scout dreamin’, but I guess it means he’s good at football. Real good. They say he plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Steelers? Sounds tough, just like him.
If you want to know more, they got this thing called ESPN. I don’t have one of them fancy boxes, but my grandson, he watches it all the time. Says they got all sorts of info on Isaiah. His history, where he played before, all that jazz. They even got his “stats.” Don’t ask me what that means, just numbers and such, makes my head spin.
They say he’s got a “position”, like he’s supposed to stand somewhere special on the field. And they know his age, his height, his weight. Like they measured him all up and down! Even know where he went to college. Dartmouth, they say. Must be a smart fella too, going to college and all.
And oh, the stats, they got all sorts of numbers. Scorin’, runnin’, I don’t even know what half of it means. But it’s on this ESPN, if you’re interested. They say he plays somethin’ called “cornerback.” Sounds like he stands at the corner, makes sense I guess.
They also say he graduated from Dartmouth in 2022. Good for him. Gettin’ an education is important, even if you’re gonna go smackin’ into folks on a football field. Heard he is more than just a football player, too. Some folks say he’s a speaker, an author, and even an ambassador. Fancy words, I tell ya. Guess he likes to talk and write, and maybe he’s good at it. He’s played for the Detroit Lions and the LA Rams too, seems like he gets around. Right now though, they say he’s a “free agent.” Means he don’t have a team, I reckon. He’s lookin’ for a new one, probably.
So, that’s what I know about Isaiah Johnson. A big, tough football player, played for fancy colleges and fancy teams. Smart fella, too. If you want to know more, you gotta go look it up on that ESPN thing, ‘cause I done told ya all I know.
And if you ask me, he sounds like a good young man. Works hard, plays hard, and seems to have his head on straight. Hope he finds a good team and keeps on doin’ well. Lord knows, we need more good young folks in this world.
That’s all I got to say about Isaiah Johnson. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed the chickens. Them birds don’t care nothin’ about no football, they just want their supper.
