Alright, so I finally got some time to sink into FIFA 23 again today. Decided to jump back into my Manchester United career mode save. Been meaning to do this for a while, just haven’t had the chance.

First thing, booted up the console, loaded the game. Takes a minute, usual stuff. Navigated through those menus, which honestly, sometimes feel a bit clunky, but whatever. Found my career save with United. I think I left off just after the first transfer window, maybe early September in the game.
Checking the Squad Situation
So, I loaded in. First thing I always do is check the squad screen. See who’s fit, who’s grumpy about playing time, you know the drill. Had a look at the objectives the board set too. They still want me to win the league, obviously, and make a deep run in Europe. No pressure then!
My team… well, it’s Man Utd in FIFA 23. Rashford’s pace is ridiculous, always useful. Bruno Fernandes is decent on the ball. But that defense… still feels a bit shaky sometimes, just like in real life maybe? Varane is good, but Martinez feels a bit underrated in the game, stamina-wise. I always seem to sub him off.
Playing a Couple of Games
Decided to actually play a match instead of simming. Had a Premier League game against someone like Brighton, I think. Fiddled with the formation before kickoff. Went with a standard 4-3-3. The game started okay, pretty back and forth.

- Managed to score first, Antony cut inside and finished. Felt good.
- Then, classic FIFA defending from me. Conceded a stupid goal just before half-time. So frustrating.
- Second half was a real grind. Their keeper was making worldie saves, my players felt like they were running in mud sometimes.
- Managed to scrape a 2-1 win right at the end. Casemiro popped up with a header from a corner. Phew.
Played another one, this time a Champions League group stage match. Won that one a bit more comfortably, maybe 3-0. Felt like the team clicked better. Maybe the first game was just rustiness, mine or the players’. Getting used to the controls again after a break always takes a minute.
Transfers and Future Plans
After the games, I spent some time messing around with the scout reports. Still feel like I need a solid backup striker and maybe another midfielder. The budget isn’t massive after the summer window, so gotta be smart. Scouting youth players is always an option, but that takes ages for them to become useful.
Selling players is a pain too. Trying to offload some deadwood, but getting decent offers is tough. Nobody seems to want Phil Jones, surprise surprise. Just kidding, I think I sold him already in this save.
Anyway, that was my session for today. Made a bit of progress in the league and Europe. Still enjoying it, even when the gameplay makes me want to throw the controller. It’s that love-hate thing, I guess. Need to sort out that midfield next time I play. That’s the main goal now.
