So, folks been askin’ if Edmundo Sosa is somehow related to Sammy Sosa. Well, let me tell ya, they ain’t kin, no matter what the last name says. Even though both of ’em got the same last name, Edmundo and Sammy ain’t got no family ties. Edmundo is from Panama City, all the way down in Panama, and Sammy’s from the Dominican Republic, far over yonder in San Pedro de Macoris. Ain’t no connection between ’em, just the name is the same. Sometimes people think if someone has the same last name, they gotta be family, but that ain’t always the case, especially when they come from different countries like these two did.
Now, let me tell ya a bit ’bout these two. Sammy Sosa, he was born on November 12, 1968. He’s a big ol’ deal in baseball, y’know? He grew up in the Dominican, and his daddy died when he was just a little feller. His mama raised him and his bunch of siblings all by herself, so you know he had to work hard for everything. Sammy worked his way up, and now folks all over the world know his name. He hit lots of home runs and made a big ol’ splash in the Major Leagues.
On the other hand, Edmundo Sosa, he came into this world a little later, on March 6, 1996, in Panama City. He’s younger than Sammy and plays baseball, too. But Edmundo’s a shortstop and a third baseman, and right now, he’s workin’ with the Philadelphia Phillies in Major League Baseball. Ain’t that somethin’! He signed with the St. Louis Cardinals back in 2012, and made his MLB debut in 2018. Even though they both play baseball, their paths ain’t crossed in no family way. They just happened to both pick up the bat and ball, and made it to the big leagues.
Edmundo’s story is a little different from Sammy’s, but both of ’em sure know what it’s like to play hard and make it big. Sammy, like I said, he’s been around a while, and people remember his famous 1998 season when he hit all them home runs with Mark McGwire. They even got named Sportsmen of the Year by Sports Illustrated and The Sporting News. That was a mighty big honor, and I reckon it did a lot to make Sammy a household name.
As for Edmundo, he started his career a little later, but he ain’t no slouch either. He came up through the ranks and got himself a spot in the major leagues. His debut was on September 23, 2018, with the St. Louis Cardinals, and now he’s with the Phillies. He’s still young, just 28, but he’s makin’ his mark, that’s for sure. He’s known for being a real solid infielder, playin’ shortstop, third base, and second base, and he’s got a good bat to go with it. He ain’t let go of his dreams, and now he’s playin’ right alongside some of the best in the game.
But again, let me say this loud and clear—Edmundo and Sammy are not related. I know the last name might make folks think that, but there’s no blood between ’em. They just happen to share the same name, and both love the game of baseball. Ain’t no big family reunion or anything like that. So next time someone asks if Edmundo and Sammy are kin, you can just tell ’em, ‘Nope, they ain’t, but they both sure can play ball!’
It’s funny how names can fool ya sometimes, ain’t it? But I reckon that’s the way the world works. And just like with any other two folks, they make their own way in life, no matter if they share a name or not. Edmundo’s doing his thing in the majors, and Sammy’s out there with his past full of home runs and big achievements. They both come from different places and lived different lives, but they got one thing in common for sure—they both love baseball and they both made it big!
