Okay, so this question, “is AJ Lee returning to WWE?”, popped into my head the other day. I looked around, trying to see if AJ herself or anyone closely related had posted anything even remotely hinting at it. Also checked what people were generally saying on Twitter (or X, whatever it’s called now).
I specifically looked for any recent interviews she might have done. Sometimes people drop clues in interviews, even if they don’t say things outright. Found a few articles talking about her work with WOW (Women of Wrestling) as an executive producer and commentator. That seemed like her main focus in the wrestling world recently.
What I Found (or Didn’t Find)
Alright, after digging around for a bit, here’s the gist of what I gathered. There’s no solid proof, no official announcement, nothing concrete saying she’s coming back to WWE. Zero. Zilch.
What I did find was a ton of speculation. And I mean a TON. A lot of it seems fueled by a few things:
- CM Punk’s Return: This is the big one. People figure, if Punk came back after all this time and bad blood, maybe his wife could too? It makes sense why people would connect those dots.
- Fan Desire: Let’s be real, AJ Lee had a massive fanbase. People loved her character, her promos, her matches. Lots of folks just really want her to come back, so they talk about it, creating buzz.
- Rumor Mill Churning: The wrestling world loves rumors. Any little thing can get blown up. Someone sees someone backstage, or hears a whisper, and suddenly it’s treated like news. I saw plenty of “sources say” type articles, but nothing verifiable.
I also saw mentions of her past neck injuries and her own statements from years ago about being happy in retirement and focusing on other projects like writing and advocacy. Plus, her current role with WOW seems like a pretty significant commitment.
My Take on It All
So, putting it all together, my personal feeling? It’s mostly wishful thinking right now. Could it happen? In wrestling, you learn to never say never. We saw Punk come back, Edge come back, lots of surprises happen. But based on the actual evidence available today? There’s nothing pointing to an imminent AJ Lee return to a WWE ring.
She seems busy and fulfilled with her work at WOW and her other ventures. While the Punk connection makes the speculation understandable, it doesn’t automatically mean she’s following him back to WWE. They’re separate people with separate careers, after all.
It felt like a classic case of the internet echo chamber – one person asks, another speculates, a site writes an article about the speculation, and suddenly it feels like something might be happening, even when there’s no real substance behind it yet.
So yeah, that was my little dive into the topic. Found lots of chatter, not much fact. We’ll just have to wait and see if anything official ever comes out, but I’m not holding my breath based on what’s out there right now.
