Alright, so listen up, y’all. This fella, Hunter Dickinson, he’s a big ol’ basketball player, like real tall, seven-foot-one they say. He played for some school up north, Michigan I think it was, for three years. Now, he’s movin’ on, transferrin’ they call it, to Kansas. Yeah, Kansas, where they grow all that wheat.
This boy, Dickinson, he’s a good one, a real star. They even say he was the number one fella in somethin’ called the “transfer portal,” whatever that is. Sounds like a fancy way of sayin’ he’s switchin’ teams, like when you trade cows at the market.
- He played for Michigan for three years.
- Now he’s going to Kansas.
- He’s real tall, seven-foot-one.
Anyways, this coach, Bill Self, he’s real happy about it. Says it’s “great news.” I reckon it is, havin’ a big fella like that on your team. Folks are talkin’ about how this Dickinson fella is gonna make the Kansas team even better. They already got some good players comin’ back, and now with him, well, it’s gonna be somethin’ to see. Sounds like there’s gonna be a lot of competition for playing time, you know, like when all the chickens try to get to the feed trough at once.
Now, why’d he leave Michigan, you ask? Well, seems like money had somethin’ to do with it. This boy, he wants to get paid for usin’ his name and face, like on TV and such. He was on some podcast, “Roundball” it was called, talkin’ ’bout it. Said folks would leave their jobs for a little extra money, so why shouldn’t he? Can’t argue with that, can ya? Everybody’s gotta eat, and if you can make a little extra by havin’ your picture taken, well, more power to ya, I say.
This whole thing, it reminds me of when my grandson, Billy, he switched jobs last year. Went from farmin’ corn to drivin’ a truck. Said the pay was better. Guess it’s the same kinda thing with this Dickinson fella. He’s lookin’ for a better opportunity, a chance to make a name for himself, and maybe a little extra cash too. And ain’t nothin’ wrong with that. He’s a smart fella, this Dickinson, knowin’ his worth.
He announced it on somethin’ called Twitter, which is like sendin’ messages real fast, I hear. My niece, she uses it all the time. Anyways, he put out a video sayin’ he’s goin’ to Kansas. Must be excitin’ times for them folks out there in Lawrence. They got themselves a real good player, a real big fella. And he’s stayin’ for another year, they call it a “super senior season.” Sounds fancy, but I guess it just means he’s gonna play one more year before he goes off to do whatever it is these young fellas do after college. Probably play more basketball, if I had to guess.
So, there you have it. Hunter Dickinson, big basketball player, movin’ from Michigan to Kansas. Gonna be a lot of excitement, a lot of competition. And maybe, just maybe, he’ll help Kansas win a whole bunch of games. We’ll see, won’t we? It’s always excitin’ to see these young folks doin’ well for themselves. Reminds me of when my own kids were growin’ up, always full of energy and ambition. Good for him, I say. Good for him.
