So, I saw the news that Bellinger finally signed somewhere. Took long enough, right? Felt like that whole thing dragged on forever this offseason.

It wasn’t like I was checking every single day, but you couldn’t really miss it if you follow baseball even a little bit. Every other alert was about ‘where will he go?’ or ‘what’s the holdup?’. Honestly, seeing it finally done just made me think about waiting games in general.
My Own Waiting Game
Reminds me of this time years ago, I was trying to get this project off the ground at my old place. Not a huge company, just a regular spot. We had this idea, me and a couple of other guys, something we thought could really streamline how we handled our inventory.
The Pitch and the Wait
- First, we put together this whole presentation. Spent weeks on it after hours.
- Then we pitched it to the manager. He seemed interested, said “Let me think on it.”
- “Thinking on it” turned into weeks, then a month. Every time we asked, it was “Still reviewing,” or “Need to talk to finance.”
It was frustrating, you know? We were excited, ready to go, but everything was just stuck waiting for one guy to make a call. Felt like we were in limbo. We’d talk about it amongst ourselves, wondering if we should just drop it or push harder.
We tried different things. Sent follow-up emails with more data. Tried to catch the manager in the hallway for a quick chat. It was always vague answers. Felt like we were negotiating for something that wasn’t even guaranteed to happen.

Finally, an Answer
Then one random Tuesday, months later, we get an email. “Project approved. Limited budget. Start next quarter.” Just like that. No big meeting, no explanation for the delay. It was relief mixed with a bit of annoyance that it took so long for such a simple ‘yes’.
So yeah, seeing the Bellinger stuff finally wrap up kinda brought that back. The waiting, the uncertainty, then suddenly, it’s done. You’re glad it’s resolved, but man, the process can be a real drag sometimes. Anyway, just something I was thinking about when I saw that news pop up.
