Well, let me tell ya, this here MLB The Show 24, it ain’t like the old days. Back then, we just played. Now, these young’uns, they got all these fancy ways to slide. It’s a whole thing, I tell ya. Makes my head spin. But, I heard some folks talkin’, and I think I got the gist of it. This how to slide thing, it’s important, they say. So, listen up, and maybe you’ll learn somethin’.
First off, you gotta make a good player, you know, someone who can actually run and slide. Like picking from the best. And, you know what they always say, gotta build ’em strong. Like that power thing. Make sure your player is strong, like a good ol’ ox. You gotta choose the best one. Some fella said, choose that “power archetype” thing. What’s that even mean? I reckon it just means someone who hits the ball far.
Then there’s some other thing called, I think, “contact perk”. They kept sayin’ “contact one” is the best. That’s all I heard. I guess it means they can hit the ball good. Like, really good. Makes sense, right? If you can’t hit the ball, how you gonna run and slide? It’s all connected, like the corn stalks in the field.
And, another thing they kept yappin’ about was somethin’ called “Zone.” They said it’s the best for hittin’. “Zone” this, “Zone” that. Sounds like some kind of area to me. Like the strike zone, maybe? I don’t know. But they said it gives you more control. Like holdin’ the reins on a horse, I suppose. You gotta control where that ball goes. Otherwise, it’s just gonna go flyin’ off somewhere, and you ain’t gonna get no runs.
Now, this slidin’ part. This is where it gets tricky. They say it’s like an art. An art! Can you believe it? Slidin’ into a base is art now. Well, I’ll be. In my day, we just slid. Didn’t matter how, just get there before the ball. But these newfangled ways, they got different kinds of slides.
They got one where you go in head first. Sounds dangerous to me. Like divin’ into a pond head first. You could crack your skull! But I guess these players, they got helmets and all that. Still, seems risky. And they got another one where you go in feet first. That seems a little more sensible. Like you’re tryin’ to kick the base or somethin’.
Okay, so how do you actually do this slidin’ thing in MLB The Show 24? Well, from what I gathered, it’s all about these buttons and sticks on that game controller. Those things are complicated, I tell ya. More buttons than a shirt factory. But here’s what I think you gotta do:
- Hold the left stick – This is the one you move your player around with, I think. You gotta hold it in the direction you wanna slide. Like if you wanna slide to the right, you hold it to the right. Makes sense, right?
- Press a button – Now, this is where it gets a bit fuzzy. They said somethin’ about R1 and R2. I don’t know what those are, but they’re buttons on that controller thing. One is for the head first slide, and the other is for the feet first slide. I reckon, they on the top or something.
- Do it at the right time – They kept sayin’ “timing is key.” That means you can’t just slide whenever you want. You gotta do it at the right moment, just before you get to the base. Otherwise, you’ll be out, or you’ll miss the base, or somethin’. Timing, it’s important in everything. Just like plantin’ seeds. Gotta do it at the right time.
So, there you have it. That’s how you slide in MLB The Show 24, I think. It’s a lot more complicated than it used to be. But, hey, that’s the way things are these days. Everything’s gettin’ more complicated. Even somethin’ as simple as slidin’ into a base. But I guess if you wanna play this game, you gotta learn all this stuff. Just remember what I said: make a good player, hit the ball good, and then slide like you mean it. And don’t forget about that “Zone” thing. Seems important. And that “contact perk”, that is important to how to slide MLB the Show 24, too.
Now, I gotta go. Got chores to do. These new games, they don’t milk the cows or feed the chickens for ya. You still gotta do that the old fashioned way. But maybe you young’uns, you can figure out this slidin’ thing and teach an old dog new tricks. Maybe. We’ll see. Good luck with your MLB The Show 24!
