Trying Out the Conor McGregor Style
Alright, let’s talk about getting that Conor McGregor haircut. I’d seen it around quite a bit, obviously, the guy’s everywhere. That sharp look, you know? The super short sides and the styled top. Got me thinking, maybe time for a change from my usual boring trim.

So, first thing I did was actually grab my phone and search for some clear pictures. You gotta show the barber exactly what you mean, right? Found a few good ones showing the fade clearly and how the top part is styled, usually swept back or to the side.
Finding the Right Barber
Next step, finding someone to actually do it. I didn’t go anywhere fancy. Just went down to the barbershop I sometimes use, the one run by an older guy who knows his way around clippers. Figured he’d be able to handle a fade.
The Process in the Chair
So I walked in, waited my turn. Showed him the picture on my phone. He took a good look, nodded, said “Ah, the McGregor look, yeah, okay.” Made me feel a bit better, like he knew what was up.

- Sat down, got the cape on.
- He started with the clippers on the sides and back. Went really short, like down to the skin almost at the bottom, fading it up. That’s the main part of the look, that drastic fade. Felt the cold buzz of the clippers right on my scalp.
- Then he switched to scissors for the top. Left it much longer, like in the photos. Snipped away, textured it a bit so it wouldn’t just lie flat.
- He spent a good while blending the short sides into the longer top. That’s the tricky part, making it look smooth and not like two different haircuts stuck together.
Getting it Styled
After the cutting was done, he washed out all the loose hair. Then came the styling. He grabbed a hairdryer and a brush, directing the longer hair on top backwards and slightly to the side.
Then he scooped out some pretty strong-hold stuff – wax or maybe pomade – rubbed it in his hands and worked it through the top section. Really slicked it back, gave it that sharp, defined shape you see McGregor have. Made sure it stayed put.
The Result
He spun the chair around, showed me the back with a hand mirror. The fade looked clean. The top was styled sharp. Gotta admit, it felt pretty different. Much bolder than my usual look. Took a few glances in the mirror later that day to get used to it. It needs a bit of product each morning to keep it looking right, obviously. But yeah, that was my experience getting the Conor McGregor cut. Pretty straightforward, just need a barber who’s confident with fades and show them a clear picture.
