Okay, so, I got this idea the other day. You know those Joe Rogan memes? I wanted to try my hand at making one. First things first, I had to figure out what makes these things tick, what makes them so shareable. So, I spent a good chunk of my afternoon just scrolling through tons of them. I was trying to understand what kind of audiences these things appeal to.
Figuring Out the Funny
After looking at countless memes, I started to notice some patterns. Most of them used the same few images of Joe, mostly from his podcast. You know, the ones where he’s making that super surprised face, or looking really intense. So I figured, I needed those images to get started.
I went online and found a bunch of places where you could download these images, I grabbed a few different ones, just to have options. Next, I realized I needed a way to put text on these images. Turns out, there are a bunch of websites that let you do exactly that.
So, I jumped onto one of these “meme maker” sites. I uploaded one of the Joe Rogan pictures I’d saved. It was pretty straightforward – the site had a simple interface. You just typed in the text you wanted, chose a font and size, and dragged it around the image until it looked right.
Trial and Error
The hardest part was figuring out the text. I mean, anyone can slap some words on a picture, but making it funny? That’s the real challenge. I tried a few different things. Some were total duds. Others were okay, but not really “viral” material.
- First try: “When your friend says they don’t like pizza.” Yeah, not great.
- Second try: “That moment when you realize you left the oven on.” A little better, but still…meh.
- Third try: Something about monkeys or was it chimps? Anyway, too weird, even for me.
I kept at it, though. Eventually, I came up with something I thought was pretty good. I won’t spoil it here, you’ll just have to wait and see if it blows up online. But let me tell you, it was a lot harder than it looks.
Anyway, that’s my little adventure into the world of meme creation. I learned that it’s not just about the image, or the text, but how they work together to hit that sweet spot of humor and relatability. It was a fun little experiment. Maybe I’ll try making some more in the future, who knows. There are lots of ways you can go to make a meme, some more complicated, some easier. This one was pretty easy.
