Okay, so yesterday was kinda wild. I was heading home, right? Just finished grabbing some grub, minding my own business, and then bam! This dude, looked kinda rough, stumbled up to me.

First thing he does is mumble something I couldn’t catch. So, I stopped, you know, figured I’d at least hear him out. Asked him to repeat himself, louder this time. Turns out, he was asking for help. Said he was lost and needed to find a place to crash for the night.
Now, I’m usually pretty cautious, especially after dark. But something about this guy… he seemed genuinely distressed, not threatening, just totally lost. I decided to hear him out. Started asking him questions, where he was trying to go, what happened, the whole shebang.
Turns out, he’d come to town for a job interview that fell through. Hadn’t booked a place to stay thinking he’d nail the interview and figure it out later. Rookie mistake, I know. Now he was stranded with barely any cash.
At first, I thought about just giving him some money for a bus ticket out of town. But then I remembered there’s a homeless shelter not too far from where we were. Figured that’d be way better than just throwing cash at the problem.
I pulled up the shelter’s address on my phone and walked with him for a bit, showing him the way. It wasn’t exactly close, maybe a 20-minute walk. We chatted a bit on the way. He was pretty bummed about the job thing, but seemed grateful for the help.

Got him to the shelter, made sure he knew where to go. He thanked me like a million times, which was kinda awkward. I just told him to pay it forward. Watched him walk inside, then headed home myself.
Honestly, it was a bit of a rollercoaster. You never know what you’re gonna run into on the streets. But I felt like I did the right thing. Hopefully, he gets back on his feet soon.
Later that night, I was thinking, maybe I should have done more? Like, offered him a meal or something. But hey, you can’t save everyone, right? I did what I could at the moment.
Anyway, that was my day. Just a reminder to be a little kinder to folks, you never know what they’re going through. And maybe keep the number of the local shelters handy. Could come in useful someday. Peace out!
