Alright, so today I decided to dive back into the Johto region in Pokémon, specifically focusing on Ground-type Pokémon. I always liked how sturdy and reliable they can be, so I figured, why not try a team built around them?

Getting Started
First things first, I booted up my old copy of Pokémon Silver. Man, the nostalgia hit hard! I spent a good hour just wandering around, talking to NPCs, and remembering where everything was. It’s like visiting an old neighborhood.
Choosing My Team
Next, I needed to figure out which Ground-types I actually wanted. Johto has a few good ones, but I wanted a mix of power and, well, coolness factor. Here’s what I went with:
- Quagsire: A classic. Water/Ground is such a great typing, and it’s surprisingly bulky.
- Gligar: Okay, this one might be more for the cool factor, but I always loved Gligar’s design. Ground/Flying is unique, too!
- Piloswine: Before evolving to the mamo,It is such a good pokemon with an Ice/Ground type.
The Grinding Begins
Now for the not-so-fun part: grinding. I spent hours battling wild Pokémon, trying to get my team up to a decent level. It was a bit tedious, to be honest, but I knew it would pay off in the long run. I used the areas around Violet City and Azalea Town a lot, since there are plenty of trainers and wild Pokémon there.
Strategies and Battles
When battle with other trainers,I found Gligar’s speed was super helpful. I used it to set up quick attacks and then switch to Quagsire or Piloswine to tank hits.

The Results
Finally, I feel pretty good! My Ground-type team is shaping up nicely. It’s not perfect, of course, but it’s been a fun experiment. It really reminded me how much I love the older Pokémon games.
