Okay, folks, let’s dive into how I finally figured out this whole “crown icon” thing in MLB The Show 24. It wasn’t exactly straightforward, so I figured I’d share my experience to save you all some headaches.
I started out, like most of you probably, just playing the game. I’m mostly a Diamond Dynasty guy, grinding through Conquest and Mini Seasons. I kept seeing these little crown icons next to some player names and cards, and I had absolutely no clue what they meant. I mean, zero. I checked the in-game menus, poked around online, nothing really gave me a clear answer.
So, I started experimenting. First, I noticed the crowns were only on Live Series cards. Okay, that’s a clue. Then, I started paying attention to the players with the crowns. They were always guys who were having a killer season, like, leading the league in home runs or strikeouts. That’s when the lightbulb kinda flickered on.
My “Aha!” Moment
It finally clicked when I compared a player’s stats in the game to their real-life performance. I had a Shohei Ohtani card with a crown, and sure enough, he was tearing it up in real life. I then checked another player, a pitcher who was having a rough year, and no crown. That’s when I knew: the crown means the player is a top performer in the current MLB season.
Then after that, I find out the real use for that. I found out that they are for use in certain events that are part of Diamond Dynasty
Here’s the breakdown, as I understand it:
- Crown Icon: Indicates a top-performing player in the current MLB season.
- Live Series Cards Only: You’ll only see the crown on Live Series cards, which are based on real-life player performance.
- Dynamic Ratings Boost: these cards get some boosts reflecting their good live performance.
