Okay, so I’ve been trying to get my golf swing in better shape, and I heard about these “golf bands” that are supposed to help. I figured, why not give it a shot? I’m no pro, but anything that might help me hit the ball straighter is worth a try.

Getting Started
First thing I did was grab a set of these bands online. They weren’t expensive, just some stretchy resistance bands. Nothing fancy, really. I think many are the basic loop bands.
My “Routine” (If You Can Call It That)
I started trying to use these things, my routine wasn’t very scientific. I just put the band around my legs, above my knees, like I saw in some pictures.
- Warm-up: I did some simple stretches, swinging my arms, twisting my torso – you know, the basic stuff to get the blood flowing, and adding bands to stretch.
- Banded Swings: I put a band to do some practice swings,I tried the band around my legs, above my knees, felt kind of awkward at first, honestly, but I got used to it.
- Focus (or Trying To): The main thing I was working on, and kept getting corrected on, was trying to keep my lower body more stable during the swing. Keep my legs from swaying all over the place.
Actually Playing
I used the band a few times a week, mostly just for practice swings in my house, hitting a few balls at the driving range with the band on. I have to put it on my ankle to get good at keeping connection, but I don’t play with it often.
Did It Work?
So, the big question – did the golf band actually help? I think it did… a little.
It is useful when I try to maintain the connection.

I’m still not going to be winning any tournaments, but I feel like my swing is slightly more consistent. Maybe it’s just a placebo effect, who knows. But hey, if it helps me avoid slicing the ball into the woods quite as often, I’ll take it!
It’s not a magic fix, you still need to practice the basics, but the bands were a cheap and easy thing to try. And honestly, anything that gets me out there and swinging is a good thing in my book.
