Okay, so today I decided to tackle this “go ahead crossword” thing. I’d seen it mentioned online and figured, why not give it a shot? I’ve always enjoyed a good word puzzle.

First, I googled “go ahead crossword” to see what would pop up. I got a bunch of, well, crossword puzzles with that theme, it was exactly what I needed.
I picked one that looked, kinda medium-difficulty. Didn’t want to start with anything too crazy, you know? I printed it out – I’m old school, I like to have a physical copy to scribble on.
Getting Started
- I grabbed a pencil (not a pen, gotta be able to erase!).
- I found a quiet spot on the couch.
- I started by scanning the clues, looking for the easy ones, the “gimmes.” You always gotta start with the low-hanging fruit.
I filled in a few of the shorter words, the three- and four-letter ones. That gave me some anchor points, some crossing letters to work with. It’s like building a little word foundation.
Then I moved on to the longer clues. Some of them were tricky! I had to think about synonyms, different ways of phrasing things. I even used a thesaurus a couple of times – no shame in that game.
There were a few moments where I got stuck. Totally blank. So, I took a break, walked around, got a drink of water. Sometimes you just need to step away for a bit and let your brain reset.

The Final Stretch
After my little break, I came back and looked at the puzzle with fresh eyes. And boom! Suddenly, a couple of the clues that had been stumping me just clicked. It’s amazing how that works.
Slowly but surely, I filled in the remaining squares. It was a real back-and-forth process. Sometimes I’d get one word, which would give me a letter for another word, and so on.
Finally, I wrote in the last letter. Done! It felt pretty good, I gotta say. Like I’d conquered a small, wordy mountain.
So yeah, that was my “go ahead crossword” adventure. Not exactly earth-shattering, but a fun way to spend an hour or so. Might even try another one tomorrow!
