Okay, so I wanted to dig into Jared Jones’s stats. I’d heard some buzz about him, and I figured, why not do some research myself and see what all the fuss is about?
First, I needed to find a good source of data. I’ve found a few sports sites are okay. They have a whole bunch of player data, so I started there.
Once I got to the site, I just went to the search bar and typed in “Jared Jones.” Boom! There was his player profile.
Getting the Basic Info
The profile had all the usual stuff – you know, team, position, height, weight, all that basic background information. This is helpful to just get oriented.
Diving into the Stats
Now for the fun part! I wanted to see how he was actually performing. The site I went to had a ton of tables with different stats. Here’s some of the stuff I was paying attention to:
- Games Played/Started: Just to get a sense of how much experience he has.
- Wins/Losses: Obviously important for a pitcher!
- ERA (Earned Run Average): A classic measure of how well a pitcher is preventing runs. Lower is better.
- Strikeouts/Walks: Show you a pitchers’control and how many people struck out.
- WHIP (Walks and Hits per Inning Pitched): Another good one for overall effectiveness. Again, lower is better here.
I was just clicking through the different tabs and tables, taking it all in. I even looked at some of the more advanced stats like, BABIP and FIP,but, honestly, some of that gets a little too complicated for me.I was more interested in the core performance numbers.
Looking at Trends
What I really like to do is look at the stats over time. They had some charts that showed how his ERA, strikeouts, etc., had changed from game to game, or even across different seasons. This helped me see if he was improving, declining, or staying consistent. Trends tell a much bigger story than just one single game’s data.
Forming My Own Opinion
After spending a good amount of time scrolling and looking at all the numbers, I started to get a better feel for Jared Jones as a player. It’s more than just reading about him – I could see the actual performance data and form my own conclusions. This is way better than just listening to other random people talk!
So, that’s how I usually go about checking out player stats. I find it a pretty cool to get my hands dirty with the data!
