Okay, so, I’ve been digging into this Frank Beamer and his wife thing, and let me tell you, it’s been quite the journey. First off, I started by trying to figure out who this Cheryl Oakley, Frank’s wife, really is.
I hit up the usual spots online, you know, trying to piece together their story. Turns out, Frank and Cheryl’s story started way back, like 47 years ago. They met on a blind date! Can you believe it? A blind date! And it actually worked out “pretty good,” as they say.
Here’s what I managed to put together:
- The Blind Date: This was my starting point. I mean, who doesn’t love a good old-fashioned blind date success story? It’s like something out of a movie. I spent a good amount of time just trying to find any details about this date, but no luck.
- Cheryl’s Role: From what I gathered, Cheryl’s been a huge support for Frank throughout his 29 seasons coaching at Virginia Tech. I mean, 29 seasons! That’s a long time. I tried to find some interviews or articles where she talks about it, but struck out again.
- The Lake House Incident: I stumbled upon this piece of news that Cheryl got hurt at their lake house in Georgia. It seemed pretty serious. I looked for updates on her condition, but couldn’t find a thing.
- Beamer Way: This was a cool find. The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors actually changed the name of Spring Road to Beamer Way. It’s a tribute to both Frank and Cheryl. I spent a while looking for pictures of this street sign, and got some really nice ones.
- Retirement: I also found out Frank’s retired now. After 29 years and 238 wins at Virginia Tech. I tried to see what he’s been up to since retiring, but no dice.
My Process
First, I read a bunch of news articles to understand who Frank and Cheryl Beamer were. Then I tried to verify this info on other sites and make sure it was correct. I spent hours going through these articles, you know. After that, I tried to find more personal stories about them, like interviews or maybe some social media posts, but that didn’t really pan out. It’s like they’re super private, which I guess is understandable.
Anyway, that’s the gist of my deep dive into the Beamer’s. It wasn’t easy, and there are still a lot of gaps. But hey, that’s how these things go sometimes, right? You win some, you lose some. Still, it was a pretty interesting journey learning about them and their life together.
