Alright, so today I’m gonna walk you through my experience snagging a Trae Young auto. It was a bit of a journey, not gonna lie.
First off, I started looking around online. You know, eBay, COMC, the usual suspects. I was trying to find a good deal, but honestly, Trae Young autos are pretty hot right now. Prices are kinda crazy.
I spent like, a week just browsing, comparing prices, checking condition reports. I even watched a bunch of YouTube videos of people opening boxes, hoping to get lucky and see them pull a Trae Young auto. That’s where I messed up and started getting the itch to rip some packs myself.
So, I decided to hit up my local card shop. I figured, why not? Maybe I could find a box or two with decent odds. Plus, I like supporting the local guy.
I talked to the owner for a bit, told him what I was looking for. He pointed me towards a couple of options. One box had a guaranteed auto per box, but the cards were kind of a mixed bag. The other was a higher-end box, more expensive, but with supposedly better hits.
I hemmed and hawed for a bit, then said screw it and bought one of each. Figure I’d double my chances, right?

- Box #1: The cheaper one. Ripped it open, one pack at a time. Got some decent rookies, a couple of inserts. Then, BAM! An auto! But… it was some dude I’d never heard of. Bummer.
- Box #2: The pricey one. Man, this one was nerve-wracking. The cards felt thicker, fancier. Pulled a nice Ja Morant rookie, a numbered card of some role player, and then… nothing. No Trae Young auto. Just an auto of another guy I don’t recognize. Double bummer.
Defeated, I went back home. Sat down and decided to try online again. This time, I was thinking, “Okay, I’m just gonna buy the card outright. No more gambling.”
I narrowed it down to a few listings on eBay. I looked at the sellers’ feedback, checked the pictures closely for any damage, and made sure the authentication was legit. I found one that looked pretty good. It was graded by PSA, which gave me some peace of mind.
I watched the auction for a few days, and then at the last minute, I put in my bid. Got outbid in the last 5 seconds! I was so pissed!
I kept searching, and finally found another one that I liked. This time, I used the “Buy It Now” option. Didn’t want to risk losing it again. Clicked the button, paid for it, and waited anxiously for it to arrive.
It finally showed up a week later. Packaged super carefully, which I appreciated. Opened it up, and there it was! A Trae Young auto! Looked even better in person than in the pictures. I was stoked!

So, yeah, that’s the story of how I got my Trae Young auto. It took a while, cost me some money, and involved a bit of luck (and a lot of frustration), but in the end, it was worth it. Now it’s sitting proudly in my display case. Maybe one day I’ll sell it. Maybe.
