Okay, so I’ve been getting into collecting baseball cards lately, and I heard a lot of buzz about Adley Rutschman. He’s supposed to be a big deal, right? So, I decided I needed to snag a 2023 rookie card of his. Here’s how that whole adventure went down.

The Hunt Begins
First things first, I had to figure out which Adley Rutschman rookie card I wanted. I mean, there are a ton of different sets and variations. I jumped online, did some looking around, and it was kind of overwhelming! There’s Topps, Bowman, Panini… so many choices.
I spent a good chunk of time just browsing through different card designs. Some had him batting, some catching, some were just portraits. It was actually pretty fun seeing all the options.
Narrowing it Down
After a while, I decided I wanted something that looked classic, not too flashy. I also wanted a card that was actually from 2023, his official rookie year, you know? No pre-rookie stuff for me, I wanted the real deal.
I started to focus on the Topps Series 1 and Series 2 sets, because they seemed like the most “standard” rookie cards. Also kept an eye out for any cool parallels or short prints, those rare versions that are harder to find. Those can be worth more down the line, but mostly I just wanted a cool card.
Making the Purchase(s!)
I checked out some online card shops. Looked at some listings. The prices were all over the place! Some basic cards were just a few bucks, while others were way more expensive. It depended on the condition, if it was graded, and if it was one of those special variations.

Honestly, I ended up getting a couple of different ones. I found a pretty decent-looking base Topps Series 2 card that wasn’t too pricey. Then I found a slightly nicer parallel version, also from Topps, that had a bit of a shimmer to it. Couldn’t resist!
The Waiting Game (and the Reveal!)
Waiting for them to arrive in the mail was the hardest part! I kept checking the tracking info. When they finally showed up, it was like Christmas morning. Ripped open the packages (carefully, of course!), and there they were!
- The Topps Series 2 base card looked great. Clean edges, nice centering.
- The parallel version was even better! The shimmer was really cool, and it just felt like a more “premium” card.
I slipped them into some protective sleeves and top loaders right away. Gotta keep those rookies safe!
The Collection Grows
So, yeah, that’s the story of how I added a couple of Adley Rutschman rookie cards to my collection. It was a fun little project, and now I’ve got some cool cards to show for it. Might even try to get them graded someday. Who knows, maybe they’ll be worth a fortune in the future! But for now, I’m just happy to have them.
