So, I’m a huge football fan, right? And I got this crazy idea the other day – I wanted to see where all the NFL teams are actually located on a map. Not just the cities, but like, the actual stadiums. I’m a visual guy, so a list of teams and cities wasn’t cutting it for me.
First, I started to find where to get the list of all the teams. I mean, I know a good chunk of them, but I wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing any. I did a quick search for NFL teams and found some sites that list them all out.
Then I started looking for some kind of interactive map. I figured there had to be something out there already, right? After some searching, I stumbled upon a few options, but some of them were kinda outdated. And most of them were just showing the city, not the exact stadium location.
Then I got the genius idea to make my own map. Maybe I’m a little extra, but I found it quite interesting. I started to plot out each team’s stadium on a US map. It was actually pretty cool to see them all spread out like that. Some areas are packed with teams, like around New York and California, and then you’ve got these big stretches with nothing.
I also got curious about other random facts. For example, I found out that some teams play on artificial turf, while others have real grass. And the stadium sizes are all over the place, too!
It’s kinda funny how popular some teams are compared to others. I saw some data from Utah where a lot of folks are fans of the Denver Broncos, but hardly anyone there roots for the Raiders (even before they moved to Las Vegas). And of course, the New York Giants are super popular – they’ve been around for almost a hundred years.
I got carried away and also started looking up college football teams. I didn’t map them all out, but I saw there are tons of them, like way more than the NFL teams. The country is packed with college teams in every state, some of them even out in the boondocks!
