Okay, so I’ve been trying to get better at predicting football match outcomes. It’s tough, but I’m logging my process to, hopefully, improve. Today, I looked at Espanyol vs. Valladolid.

My Prediction Process
First, I checked the recent form of both teams. I just googled their last five or six matches.
- Espanyol: Seemed to be struggling, a lot of losses and draws, from what I recall.
- Valladolid: Also not great, very mixed, kind of hard to get a good read.
Then, I looked for head-to-head records. I wanted to see how they’ve done against each other historically. It was also a mixed bag of records, I don’t remember specifics, just that there wasn’t a super clear pattern, sometime Espanyol win, sometime Valladolid.
I also tried to find out if any key players were injured or suspended. To be honest, this part was tricky. I scrolled through some news articles, but it was all a bit confusing, some saying a player might be out, others saying nothing. I didn’t feel super confident about the info I got here.
Next, I considered the home advantage. Espanyol was playing at home, which usually gives a team a bit of a boost. I figured that might help them, although, their recent form was so bad, I wasn’t sure how much it would matter.
Making the Prediction (and Doubting Myself)
Honestly, after all that, I still felt like I was guessing. Both teams were so inconsistent. I ended up going with a draw, maybe 1-1, but it was really a gut feeling more than anything else. It felt 50/50 so I just flipped a mental coin.

I recorded my prediction, not on anything fancy, just a basic text app on my phone.
It is a very confusing match to predict, and I just recorded what I predict.
I need to work on finding better sources of information, especially about injuries and team news. Maybe there are some dedicated sports sites I’m missing. It felt pretty random, but hey, gotta start somewhere, right? Every attempt is a lesson, I guess. I’ll keep practicing and logging my predictions to see if I can get better at this.
