Okay, so I’ve been trying to spice up my learning routine, and I thought, why not combine my love for hair colors (yes, I’m a bit obsessed) with a crossword puzzle? Seemed like a fun idea at the time. Let’s see how this went down.

Brainstorming and Setup
First things first, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen. Yeah, old school, I know. I could’ve used some fancy online tool, but I wanted to keep it simple. I started by listing all the hair colors I could think of: blonde, brunette, redhead, auburn, chestnut… you get the idea. My list got pretty long, pretty fast.
Creating the Clues
Then came the hard part: writing the clues. I tried to be clever, but let’s be honest, I’m no crossword pro. Some clues were super easy, like “The color of sunshine” for blonde. Others were a bit trickier. I Googled some fun facts about different hair colors to make the clues more interesting. For example, did you know that natural redheads are more sensitive to pain? Crazy, right?
- I spent a good hour just messing around with the clues, trying to make them fit together.
- Used pencil a lot for many times erasing.
Building the Grid
Next, I drew a grid. This was the most frustrating part, hands down. I kept messing up the spacing, and it took me forever to get the words to intersect properly. I ended up with a grid that looked, well, let’s just say it was “rustic.” Definitely not symmetrical or pretty, but hey, it worked!
Filling It In (and Cheating a Little)
Once the grid was ready, I started filling it in. Some words were easy to place, others were a total pain. I might have cheated a little by looking up synonyms online. Don’t judge! It’s harder than it looks, okay? I found online tools to help generate a crossword, but it’s really hard to use for the first time.
The Final Result
Finally, after a lot of trial and error (and a few ripped-up pieces of paper), I had my hair color crossword! It wasn’t perfect, but it was mine. And you know what? I actually learned a few new things while making it. Who knew learning could be this…colorful?

So, that’s my little adventure in crossword creation. It was messy, a bit chaotic, but ultimately pretty satisfying. Would I do it again? Maybe. But next time, I might just stick to solving them.
