Okay, so, I’ve been seeing all this buzz about Kim Mulkey’s outfits lately, right? They’re, like, impossible to miss. And it got me thinking, “Could I pull that off?” I mean, I’m no fashionista, but the idea of dressing up like her, even just once, was kinda tempting. So I decided, what the heck, let’s do this! I’m going to try to dress like Kim Mulkey.
First thing I did was hit up Google. I just typed in “Kim Mulkey outfits” and, boom, a ton of pictures popped up. I started scrolling, looking at all the sparkles, the bright colors, the wild patterns. It was a lot to take in, honestly. I was thinking,” there’s no way I have anything like this in my closet.”
Next, I started looking for common themes in her outfits. It seemed like she really loved that “Queen of Sparkles” brand. Lots of glitter, rhinestones, those kind of flashy things. I started searching on the “Queen of Sparkles” shop, to see if I could find anything similar to what she usually wears.
Then I read an article that said her style was meant to be “attention-grabbing” and “unnerve her opponents.” I don’t know about all that, but I can tell you, it definitely got my attention! The article also mentioned how her style was a reflection of her confidence. I kind of liked that idea.
I did find some pieces online that were somewhat similar to what she wears, but man, they were expensive! I mean, I get it, she’s a big-time coach at LSU, she can afford it. But for me, I wasn’t about to drop a ton of money on something I’d probably only wear once. I figured, I could find cheaper, similar stuff elsewhere.
So I headed to some local stores, looking for anything bright, sparkly, or just generally over-the-top. I found a few things that kinda worked, but they weren’t quite right. I was also looking for the right accessories. I found some cheap, big earrings and a necklace that I thought would work.
The day of the game rolled around, and it was time to put my outfit together. I grabbed the pieces I had collected, did my hair and makeup, trying to channel that Kim Mulkey energy. It definitely took me out of my comfort zone. I’m usually more of a jeans-and-t-shirt kind of person, so this was a big change. I even tried to copy her hairstyle, which was a whole other challenge in itself. Let me tell you, it was a wild experience. I tried my best to match the colors, the patterns, the whole vibe.
I walked into the game feeling a little self-conscious, but also kinda excited. It was fun to see people’s reactions. Some people were smiling, some were confused, but it was all in good fun. And you know what? I ended up having a great time. I cheered, I yelled, I got really into the game. It was definitely an experience I won’t forget.
Would I do it again? Maybe, maybe not. It was fun for a one-time thing, but I don’t think I could pull off that level of sparkle on a regular basis. But hey, at least I can say I tried. And who knows, maybe I even channeled a little bit of that Kim Mulkey winning spirit. You never know!
