Well now, if ya ever wondered what’s in the bag of that young lad Viktor Hovland, I’m here to give ya a little peek. Ya know, this boy from Norway, he’s been making waves out there on the golf course. I’ve been hearin’ a lot about him lately, so I thought I’d talk a bit about the gear he’s been usin’. Now, don’t be expectin’ no fancy terms and all that, but I reckon you’ll get the idea.
First thing ya gotta know is, Viktor’s got himself a Ping G425 LST driver. Now, I’m no expert, but that driver’s supposed to be real good at helping with control, ya know? It’s a 10.5-degree loft, which I hear is pretty standard for the long shots. If ya watch Viktor, he sure knows how to use it, sendin’ that ball down the fairway like nobody’s business.
Then, he’s also got a Ping G430 Max 7-wood in his bag. Now, some folks might not even know what a 7-wood is, but I’ll tell ya, it’s kinda like a hybrid between a 3-wood and a 5-wood. Helps him get some extra distance when he’s tryin’ to lay up or take a shot from the rough. I heard that thing’s real forgiving, so Viktor probably don’t have to worry too much if he don’t hit it perfect.
Speaking of hybrids, he’s got a Ping G425 hybrid as well. This one here, folks, is what helps him out when he’s stuck in a tight spot, maybe in the rough or when the lie ain’t so great. I don’t know much about these fancy clubs, but I reckon this one’s all about makin’ sure the ball gets up in the air nice and easy.
When it comes to his wedges, Viktor’s got himself a Titleist Vokey WedgeWorks 60˚ wedge. Now, this wedge is all about them short game shots. Ya know, when ya gotta chip it close to the hole or take a delicate bunker shot. That wedge’s got the kind of spin and control that makes sure the ball sticks to the greens.
And don’t even get me started on his putter. Viktor’s rollin’ with a Ping PLD DS 72 Proto Putter. Now, if I’m bein’ honest, I don’t really know what “Proto” means, but I do know a good putter when I see one. That putter’s got a nice weight to it, which helps Viktor line up his putts and sink ‘em like they’re nothin’.
So, there ya have it. Viktor’s bag’s got a mix of Ping and Titleist gear, and by the looks of it, he’s got himself a real solid setup. Ain’t no wonder he’s doin’ so well out there on the course. He’s got the right tools for the job, and it shows. Now, if I was out there with those clubs, I’d probably still be in the bushes somewhere, but hey, Viktor makes it look easy.
One thing’s for sure: that boy’s got some serious skill, and his gear sure ain’t hurtin’ him none. If you’re lookin’ to get some new clubs or maybe just curious about what the pros are usin’, well, Viktor Hovland’s bag might give ya a good idea of what’s worth havin’ in your own set.
