Well, howdy there! Let me tell ya somethin’ ‘bout this here Boone Little League. It ain’t nothin’ fancy, mind you, but it’s somethin’ special for the young’uns ‘round here.
Ya see, this here league, they call it the Boone National Little League, has been around for a good long while. Seventy years, they say! That’s a whole lotta bats and balls, ain’t it? They been givin’ every kid in town a chance to play, and that’s a mighty fine thing.
Now, I ain’t one for fancy talk, but even I can see that gettin’ kids outside and playin’ is important. Keeps ‘em outta trouble, ya know? And this here league, it don’t cost an arm and a leg. They say the player registration costs are some of the lowest in the whole state. That’s good news for folks like us, who ain’t got money to burn.
They got baseball for the little fellas and softball for the girls. Starts ‘em young, at just four years old! And they keep goin’ all the way up to fourteen for the boys and sixteen for the girls. That’s a lot of years of runnin’ bases and catchin’ fly balls.
- Baseball: Ages 4-14
- Softball: Ages 4-16
Heck, they even got somethin’ called a Challenger division. That’s for kids and even grown-ups, from four all the way up to fifty-five! See, they don’t leave nobody out. Everyone gets a chance to play, no matter what.
It’s all run by the mamas and daddies, you know? Volunteers, they call ‘em. They do it all – coachin’, umpirin’, sellin’ hot dogs. It takes a whole heap of work, but they do it for the kids. That’s what community is all about, ain’t it?
I hear tell you can find ‘em over on 314 W 2nd St, or you can write to ‘em at PO Box 445 in Boone. They got a page on somethin’ called the “Sporting Boone” too. I don’t know nothin’ ‘bout that fancy internet stuff, but the young’uns tell me it’s where you find all the news these days.
So, if you got a young’un itching to play some ball, this here Boone Little League is the place to be. It’s a good way for ‘em to learn about teamwork, and sportsmanship, and all that good stuff. And it’s a heck of a lot better than sittin’ around indoors all day starin’ at that little box, ya know, the one with all them blinkin’ lights.
They’re signin’ kids up right now for the 2022 season. So go on down there and get your young’uns signed up. Let ‘em run around, get some sun, and have some fun. It’ll do ‘em good. It’ll do ya good too, seein’ ‘em out there laughin’ and playin’. It’s a good thing, this here Little League. A real good thing.
They’ve been doin’ this for a long time, followin’ in the footsteps of thousands of other kids from Boone. It’s a tradition, ya see? And traditions are important. They keep us connected to the past and they give us somethin’ to hold onto in this crazy world. So, let’s keep this tradition goin’. Let’s keep them kids playin’ ball.
Boone Little League ain’t just about baseball and softball, it’s about community. It’s about givin’ kids a chance to shine and makin’ memories that’ll last a lifetime. And that, my friends, is somethin’ worth cherishing.
So that’s the story of the Boone Little League, as best as I can tell it. It ain’t fancy, but it’s real. And it’s good. So go on out there and support ‘em, ya hear? It’ll do your heart good.
