Man, I gotta tell you about this wild fight I dug up the other day – Diego Sanchez vs Nick Diaz. It’s a classic, let me tell you.
So, picture this: I’m going down this rabbit hole of old UFC fights, right? Just browsing, looking for some good old-fashioned brawls. I stumbled upon this gem from way back in 2005, The Ultimate Fighter 2 Finale. I see the names Diego Sanchez and Nick Diaz, and I’m like, “Oh, this is gonna be good.”
I hit play, and bam! Sanchez comes running out like a bat of hell, just like he always does. It was intense. They start circling each other, feeling each other out. Next thing you know, Sanchez gets Diaz’s back. Diaz, being the slick dude he is, tries to roll out of it, but Sanchez is all over him. It was a crazy scramble from the beginning. I watched all the way through these two guys just going at it, back and forth. I kept watching, round by round, just absorbing all the action. They went for 3 rounds, just giving it all they had.
- Round 1: The round started, Sanchez came running out as usual. They circled. Sanchez got Diaz’s back and Diaz tried to roll out.
- Round 2 and 3: I kept watching these 2 guys.
- Result: After three rounds of non-stop action, Sanchez takes it by unanimous decision. A razor-close fight, but Sanchez came out on top.
The Ultimate Fighter 2 Finale
After I finished watching the whole thing, I had to do some more digging. I found some interview where Diaz actually said this was the only fight from his early UFC days where he felt like he truly got beat. That’s saying something, right? I also saw that it was Sanchez with the unanimous decision victory. So, I did find that Sanchez defeated Diaz in 3 rounds, I guess I wasn’t wrong!
Man, if you’re into old-school MMA, you gotta check this fight out. It’s a real classic. A couple of warriors just going at it. I loved it, and I figured I’d share this with y’all.
I’ve watched a ton of fights in my time, but this one is definitely up there. I watched it once, I watched it twice and I’ll probably watch it again. It’s just one of those fights you can’t get enough of. There is no doubt that I am gonna watch this fight again and again. I guess I am gonna go watch some more fights, so stay tuned!
