Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this fantasy football dilemma for a while now – Chris Olave or Amari Cooper? It’s a tough one, right? Both are solid wide receivers, but who to start? I decided to dig in and figure it out for myself.
First, I pulled up their stats from last season. I’m a big numbers guy, so I wanted to see the cold, hard data. I looked at targets, receptions, yards, touchdowns – the whole shebang. You know, just getting a general feel for their performance.
Then, I started checking out some expert rankings and projections for this season. What are the so-called “gurus” saying? I scoured a few different websites, just to get a range of opinions, I didn’t want to put my all eggs in one basket.
My Deep Dive
- I watched some game footage. Yeah, I actually went back and watched some highlights and lowlights. I wanted to see their routes, how they were being used, and their chemistry with their quarterbacks.
- I Considered the quarterbacks. Olave’s got Derek Carr, and Cooper has Deshaun Watson. Both QBs have their ups and downs. This step is key!
- I factored in the offenses they play in. Are they pass-heavy? Do they spread the ball around? It all matters.
After all that, I made a spreadsheet. Yes, a spreadsheet. I plugged in all the data, created some formulas (nothing too fancy, just some averages and projections), and compared the results.
It was still a close call! But based on my little experiment, I’m leaning towards…well, it depends on the week! Some weeks Olave seems like the better play, other weeks it’s Cooper. It really does come down to matchups and my gut feeling on game day. It is not a perfect science, fantasy football.
I will continue to monitor, tweak and change my process until I have somthing that is working.
