Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this fella, this… what’s his name? Oh yeah, Barkley. Not that old basketball fella, the other one, the one playin’ football for… uh… Penn State, yeah, that’s it. Penn State.
Now, they say he ain’t related to that loudmouth Charles Barkley. Nope, not a lick of relation. This kid, his daddy’s name is Alibay, somethin’ like that. A boxer, they say. And his mama, Tonya. They had this boy in New York, big city, you know. Not like here, where everyone knows everyone.
This young Barkley, he went to Penn State to play football. Good school, I reckon. Folks say he was somethin’ special. Runnin’ the ball, catchin’ the ball, doin’ it all. They call it “all-purpose yardage,” whatever that means. Sounds fancy, though. He broke records, they say. Lots and lots of records. More than anyone else, ever. That’s a big deal, I guess.
- He ran for like, thousands of yards. I can’t even imagine runnin’ that far. My old knees would give out just thinkin’ about it.
- And he caught the ball too, like a receiver, you know, those fast fellas. He was good at that too, surprisingly. For a big fella, I mean.
- They even said he was the best ever at Penn State, with all them yards he got. Beat everyone. Must’ve been somethin’ to see.
I heard tell he had a real good game, one of his last ones. Against some team, the… Huskies, I think? Yeah, Washington Huskies. He ran all over them, scored touchdowns. One of them was like, almost the whole length of the field. Ninety-two somethin’ yards. That’s a long way to run, let me tell ya. He must’ve been tired after that.
This kid, he ain’t just about football, though. He’s got a family too, a girlfriend, Anna, and kids. That’s nice, you know, a good family man. Important to have family, especially when you’re busy runnin’ around on the football field all the time.
His coach, this Franklin fella, he always knew this Barkley kid was special. Said he wasn’t surprised he did so well in the NFL. NFL, that’s the big leagues, where the real money is. This kid’s doin’ alright for himself, I’d say.
And that other Barkley, the basketball one? Well, his son, he’s doin’ his own thing too. Playin’ basketball, just like his daddy. But at Penn State, it’s this football Barkley everyone’s talkin’ about. He’s the one makin’ all the noise, breakin’ all the records.
Now, I don’t know much about football, you know. I’m just an old lady. But I know a good story when I hear one. And this Barkley kid, he’s got a good story. Workin’ hard, playin’ hard, makin’ a name for himself. That’s somethin’ to be proud of, I reckon.
So, there you have it. That’s what I know about this Charles Barkley son at Penn State… Oh, wait, he ain’t his son? Well, never mind then. He’s still a good player, that Saquon Barkley. A real good player. Penn State should be proud to have him. He makes them proud, just like my grandson makes me proud when he brings home good grades from school. It’s the same feeling, you see. Just different games, I guess.
This Saquon, he played for Penn State for three years. Three years! That’s a long time to be runnin’ and catchin’ that ball. And all them yards! My goodness, I still can’t get over it. And they said he was the best, remember? All-time leader. That’s what they said.
Anyways, that’s all I got to say about it. This Saquon Barkley, Penn State football player, he’s a good one. And that’s all that matters, ain’t it? Being good at what you do. That’s what my old pappy used to say, “Do it good, or don’t do it at all.” This kid, he did it good, real good. So good job, Saquon Barkley, whoever you are. You made this old lady proud, even though I don’t even know you.
