Hey everyone, it’s your boy back at it again. Today, I wanna talk about something that’s been bugging me in The First Descendant – changing your character’s skin color. Yeah, you heard that right, something as simple as changing your look in a game turned out to be a bit of a head-scratcher for me.
So, I jumped into the game, all excited to customize my character and make them look badass. I mean, who doesn’t want their character to stand out, right? I went to the usual suspect, opened up my Inventory by hitting “I,” and started poking around. Clicked on Customize, then Descendant/Weapon Skins, thinking this is where the magic happens. Selected my character, expecting to see a rainbow of color options.
- Open Inventory (press “I”)
- Go to Customize
- Click on Descendant/Weapon Skins
- Select your character
But nope, not that easy. There’s a little thing called “Change Color,” which you activate by pressing “F.” And that brought up what they call “paint slots.” I’m like, “Paint slots? What’s that all about?” It took me a few minutes to realize you gotta select each part individually to change its color. I was clicking around like a madman, trying to figure it out. It’s not super intuitive, I gotta say.
Now here’s the kicker – and this really got me – you can’t just pick a color and go to town. Every time you want to use a color, it’s like a one-time deal. You use it on one part, and poof, it’s gone. You want to use the same color on another character or another skin? Gotta buy it again. What a bummer, right? I thought I could just buy a color once and use it all over the place. Nope, gotta pay up for each use.
A Little Twist
I did notice something interesting, though. When you hover over the premium skins in the Descendant Skins menu, there’s an option that pops up saying “Change Color” if that specific armor lets you do it. I guess not all armors are created equal when it comes to customization. That’s cool and all, but I wish they made the whole color-changing process a bit smoother.
Oh, and another thing I figured out while I was fumbling around – if you wanna switch between different descendants, that’s a whole other process. You gotta go back to your Inventory, then Descendant, and there’s a button at the bottom for the Descendant List. I stumbled upon that by accident, to be honest.
So yeah, that’s my little adventure with colors in The First Descendant. It wasn’t as straightforward as I hoped, but hey, I learned something new. Hopefully, this helps some of you guys out there who are as confused as I was. Let me know in the comments if you found an easier way to do this, or if you’re just as lost as I was. Catch you in the next one!
