Well, hey there. It’s a sad thing, talkin’ ’bout someone who ain’t with us no more. This here’s about Nicholas Taylor, seems like lots of folks named Nicholas Taylor, all gone. Just like dandelions in the wind, here today, gone tomorrow.
I saw somethin’ online, said “with solemn hearts.” Solemn hearts, that’s a fancy way of sayin’ we’re real sad, ain’t it? They announced this Nicholas Ramon Taylor passin’ away in Florissant, Missouri. Don’t know where that is, but it don’t matter. Dead is dead, no matter where you are. Makes you think, don’t it? One minute you’re here, fussin’ ’bout the price of eggs, the next… poof! Gone.
Then there’s this other Nicholas Taylor. They say you can “view his obituary to find out the funeral details.” Funerals, they’re for the livin’, I always say. The dead, they don’t care. But it’s nice, I guess, to say goodbye, throw some dirt on the coffin. Makes it real, you know?
- Seems like there’s a young fella, Nicholas Taylor Burns, only lived to be 30. 1993 to 2023, that ain’t no time at all. Makes an old woman like me wonder why the good Lord takes the young ones. Just ain’t fair.
- And another one, Nicholas Thomas Taylor, they called him Nick. 65 years old. That’s a good long life, I reckon. But still, sad for his folks, his wife, maybe some grandkids. Gotta feel for them.
They got these things called “online memorials” now. Said “share your favorite memories.” Well, I didn’t know none of these Nicholas Taylors, but I bet they had folks who loved ’em. Folks who remember them laughin’, maybe tellin’ a good joke, or just sittin’ quiet, watchin’ the sunset. That’s the stuff that matters, not how much money you got or what kind of car you drove. It’s the little things.
There’s more, too. Nicholas Anthony Taylor, a young one too, it seems. And another, Nicholas Gianni Taylor-Washington, only 20 years old, from Madison. They had a memorial service for him. Poor young thing. And then a Nicholas Anthony Taylor, 35, from Kansas City. And another one, Nicholas “Nick” Myron Taylor, 55, from Texas. Died just this year, 2024. Lord have mercy, so many Nicholas Taylors.
It’s a funny thing, life. You come into this world cryin’ and you go out the same way, leavin’ others to cry for you. Makes you think about your own time here. Are you doin’ good? Are you kind? Are you gonna leave this world a little better than you found it? ‘Cause that’s all that matters in the end. These Nicholas Taylors, they lived their lives, short or long, and now they’re gone. All we can do is remember them, and try to live a life worth rememberin’ ourselves.
So, rest in peace, all you Nicholas Taylors. Hope you found your peace, wherever you are. And for those left behind, well, it ain’t easy, but you gotta keep goin’. Life goes on, even when it hurts like hell.
Obituaries, they’re a reminder, you know? A reminder that we ain’t here forever. So, make the most of it. Tell the folks you love that you love ’em. Forgive the ones you need to forgive. And don’t sweat the small stuff. ‘Cause in the end, it’s all small stuff.
And that’s all I gotta say about that. God bless them all, every last Nicholas Taylor.
