Okay, so, a few weeks back, I got this itch to upgrade my golf driver. I’ve been using the same old one for years, and it was time for a change. After some digging around, I decided to check out the Callaway FT-5. I’d heard some good things about it, and I was curious to see if it lived up to the hype.
First thing I did was hit up a couple of online stores to see what the prices were like. I found it on a few different sites, with prices ranging from around $5 to $10. I’m no expert, but those prices seemed pretty reasonable, especially for a used club. I even saw one for 5 bucks! Crazy, right?
Shopping Around
- SidelineSwap: They had a bunch of used FT-5s, and their buyer protection thing made me feel a little better about buying used.
- eBay: Of course, eBay had tons of them, both new and used. It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest, but I liked that I could compare prices from different sellers.
- 2nd Swing Golf: These guys specialize in used clubs, and they had a decent selection of FT-5s. Plus, they have a trade-in program, which is cool.
I browsed through the listings, looking at the pictures and reading the descriptions. Some were in better condition than others, obviously. Some sellers offered free shipping, which was a nice bonus.
Making the Purchase
After weighing my options, I decided to go with a used FT-5 from SidelineSwap. It was in pretty good shape, and the price was right. I paid for it, and it shipped out a couple of days later. I was like a kid waiting for Christmas morning!
First Impressions
When the driver finally arrived, I ripped open the box and took it out. It looked even better in person. The size, 460cc, looked a bit bigger than my old one, but not in a bad way. It just looked… powerful. I went out to the range.
On the Range
I teed up a ball and took a few practice swings. The FT-5 felt good in my hands. It was well-balanced and had a nice weight to it. I took a deep breath and swung.
Wow! The ball just exploded off the clubface. It went further and straighter than my old driver. It was forgiving, too. Even when I didn’t hit it perfectly, the ball still went a decent distance. I spent the next hour just hitting balls, trying out different swing speeds and angles. I was having a blast. I think I even gained a few yards on my drives, which is always a good thing.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I’m really happy with my purchase. The Callaway FT-5 is a solid driver, and it’s definitely an upgrade from my old one. It’s forgiving, it’s powerful, and it feels great to swing. If you’re looking for a new driver, I’d definitely recommend giving it a try. You might be surprised at how much of a difference it makes. Plus, for the price, you really can’t beat it.
Would I recommend it? Heck yes!
