So, last weekend, I decided to try something new and got myself into the world of Cabernet Sauvignon. I’ve heard a lot about this famous red wine and thought, “Why not give it a shot?”
I went to the local store, and there it was, a whole section dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon. It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest. Different brands, different prices, from different regions. I mean, who knew there were so many types of Cabernet?
- I picked up a bottle from a brand called “Wynns,” which I saw someone mention online was an “icon.”
- Then I grabbed another one, from a brand called “Pepperjack”, because the label looked kind of cool and it was mentioned that it has a low price.
- Finally, I randomly grab a bottle with the word “Cabernet” on it. I don’t want to overthink too much, just pick up some bottles and try them.
Back home, I gathered a few friends. We’re no wine experts, just a bunch of buddies ready to try something new. We poured the first glass, the “Wynns.” It was dark, almost like a deep purple. We took a sip, and wow, it was strong! I’m not used to such intense flavors. It felt kind of heavy, with a strong taste that lingered. We figured maybe this is what they mean by “full-bodied.”
Next up was the “Pepperjack.” This one was a bit lighter in color compared to the first. And the taste? Definitely different. It was smoother, I guess you could say. Not as intense, but still had that distinct “wine” taste. We all agreed that this one was easier to drink, especially for beginners like us.
And finally, the last bottle we tried. This one was, well, interesting. It tasted kind of like the others, but also not really. It had a bit of a fruity taste, which I didn’t expect. Not bad, but definitely different from the other two.
The Aftermath
The next morning, I woke up with a bit of a headache. Not too bad, but definitely there. I guess that’s what they call a “wine hangover.” It wasn’t unbearable, but I definitely felt it. Especially after trying three different types in one night! My friends had similar experiences, some worse than others.
Lessons Learned
- Cabernet Sauvignon is strong stuff. I mean, I knew it was a red wine, but I didn’t expect it to be that potent.
- There’s a whole world of difference between different bottles. Even though they were all Cabernet Sauvignon, they tasted quite different.
- Maybe don’t try three different kinds of red wine in one night, especially if you’re not used to it.
- Reading the labels might help next time. There’s probably a lot of information on them that I just ignored.
Overall, it was a fun experience. I’m not sure I’m a Cabernet Sauvignon convert yet, but I’m definitely willing to try more. Maybe next time I’ll do a bit more research before just grabbing random bottles off the shelf. And I’ll definitely drink more water in between glasses! It’s all about learning, right? I felt that it burns me, not only my tongue but also my head.
And that’s all about my Cabernet burns experience.
