So, I was thinking about Bryce Harper the other day. You see him play, guy’s electric on the field, total powerhouse for the Phillies. Got that intensity, you know?

Anyway, I was just scrolling through some sports stuff, maybe reading an article or watching some clips, can’t quite remember exactly. But something popped up, maybe a small mention or a comment somewhere, that linked him to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You know, the Mormon church.
It kinda caught my eye because you don’t always hear about the personal faith stuff with big-name athletes unless they really put it out there. So, I thought, huh, is that right? I never really knew much about his background besides baseball and him being from Vegas.
Digging into it a Bit
So I decided to look into it myself. Not like some deep dive, just curious. Started searching around, just typing his name and “Latter-day Saint” or “Mormon”.
Pretty quickly, yeah, it seemed to check out. Lots of sources confirmed he is indeed a member. Grew up in the Church in Las Vegas. It wasn’t like hidden information, but just something I hadn’t personally come across or paid attention to before.
Then I started connecting some dots. I remembered reading things here and there, or seeing interviews, that maybe made more sense now.

- Like, I think I’d heard he doesn’t drink alcohol. Which fits with the Church’s Word of Wisdom, their health code. That seemed like a solid connection.
- He got married in a Temple, which is a really significant thing for active members of the Church. Saw some pictures from that time, seemed like a big family event.
- He sometimes mentions faith or family being important, which aligns with the general values emphasized.
It wasn’t like I spent hours on this. Just saw that initial mention, got curious, did a few quick searches, and read a couple of articles or forum posts talking about it. Just piecing together little bits of info that were already out there.
So yeah, that’s how I kinda confirmed it for myself. Just started with a random mention I saw and followed the thread for a few minutes. Interesting piece of info about a player you see smashing home runs all the time. Adds another layer to the guy, beyond just the stats and highlights.
