Alright, so listen up, y’all. We gonna talk about this… this Kirby guy and them Falcons. I don’t know much about football, mind you. My TV’s mostly for soap operas and the news, but even I heard about this big to-do.
So, what’s the big fuss about Kirby Cousins, you ask? Well, from what I gather, them Falcons, they went and spent a whole heap of money on this fella. A whole heap! Heard it was somethin’ like 180 million dollars over four years. Mercy! That’s enough money to buy a whole lotta chickens and feed ’em for a lifetime, I tell ya.
Now, some folks say this was a real shockin’ move. Shook ’em right up, they did. Guess they didn’t expect the Falcons to be throwin’ money around like that. But then again, them Falcons, they been needin’ a good quarterback for a good long while now. Seems like forever since they had someone who could throw the ball right. Always fumbling and messing things up, those boys. Makes ya wanna holler at the TV, it does.
- They say this Kirby guy, he’s supposed to be the answer to all their problems.
- The savior, they call him.
- Well, I sure hope he is, for their sake. Wouldn’t want all that money to go to waste, now would we?
But here’s the kicker, see? Some other folks, the smarty-pants ones who know all about football, they say this Kirby guy’s gotta prove himself real quick. Like, in the next six weeks or somethin’. Six weeks! That ain’t much time to do nothin’, ‘cept maybe knit a small scarf. But they sayin’ if he don’t do good in them six weeks, well, then things might get ugly. Might just be a big waste of money after all.
And then there’s the games, Lord have mercy. Heard they been losin’ somethin’ awful lately. Three games in a row, they said on the news. And it weren’t pretty, no sir. Sounded like they got beat real bad. Embarrassin’, that’s what it was. And they sayin’ it’s this Kirby guy’s fault, at least partly. Seems like he ain’t been playin’ so good. All that money, and he can’t even win a game? Makes you scratch your head, it does.
Now, I don’t know all the ins and outs of it. Football’s a complicated game, far as I can tell. Too many rules and whistles and whatnot. But even I can see that if you spend a whole lotta money on someone, you expect ’em to do good. You expect ’em to win some games. You don’t expect ’em to go out there and get beat three times in a row. That ain’t right.
So what’s gonna happen? Well, that’s the million-dollar question, ain’t it? Nobody knows for sure. Maybe this Kirby guy will turn things around. Maybe he’ll start playin’ like a superstar and lead the Falcons to victory. Or maybe he’ll just keep on losin’ and folks will start sayin’ them Falcons made a big mistake. A real big, expensive mistake. Only time will tell, I guess.
Anyways, that’s what I heard about this Kirby fella and them Falcons. A whole lotta money, a whole lotta pressure, and a whole lotta question marks. We’ll just have to wait and see how it all shakes out. In the meantime, I reckon I’ll stick to my soap operas. At least them stories make sense, most of the time.
Folks are talkin’ about December too, markin’ it on their calendars like it’s some kinda special holiday. Seems somethin’ big is supposed to happen then, somethin’ related to this Kirby fella and the Falcons. Maybe that’s when they’ll finally figure out if he’s worth all that money or not. Maybe that’s when they make a big change. I’m too old for all this worryin’ and fussin’ about sports. But when it’s all over the news, well, ya just can’t help but overhear a thing or two.
And wouldn’t you know it, they even talkin’ ’bout tradin’ folks now. Like it’s some kind of swap meet. One minute a fella’s playin’ for one team, the next he’s packin’ his bags and movin’ on. Heard somethin’ about a fella named Brian Burns goin’ off somewhere. Then some other fella movin’ over to the Eagles. Lands sakes, it’s hard to keep up with all this movin’ and shakin’. Makes my head spin, it does. Seems like in this here football business, nobody stays put for long.
So there ya have it. That’s the story, far as I can tell. Kirby, Falcons, lots of money, lots of losin’, and lots of uncertainty. We’ll see what happens. Maybe they’ll win, maybe they’ll lose. Maybe this Kirby fella will be a hero, maybe he’ll be a flop. Who knows? Like I always say, life’s full of surprises. And sometimes the biggest surprises cost a whole lotta money. And it always has people chirpin’ like a bunch of crickets. Makes an old woman like me just wanna sit on the porch and watch the world go by.
