Alright, let’s talk about them Cleveland Cavaliers, the basketball team, you know? Folks keep jabbering about who’s gonna be startin’ the games, the “starting lineup” they call it. I ain’t no expert, but I watch the games sometimes, when the chickens ain’t needin’ me.
So, first off, they got this fella, Darius Garland. He’s the point guard, the one who dribbles the ball all fancy-like. He’s kinda small, but quick like a rabbit. He’s good at passin’ the ball and shootin’ too, though sometimes he misses more than he should, bless his heart. They say he’s important for the team, gotta have a good dribbler, you know?
Then there’s Donovan Mitchell. They call him “Spida”. Don’t ask me why, city folks and their nicknames! He’s the shootin’ guard. This boy can score, let me tell ya. He throws the ball up and swish, it goes right in the net! He’s a real go-getter, that one, always tryin’ to get the points. Sometimes he tries a bit too hard, but he’s young, he’ll learn.
- Point Guard: Darius Garland
- Shooting Guard: Donovan Mitchell
Now, for the bigger fellas. Evan Mobley, he’s the power forward I think. Tall as a beanpole and skinny too. But don’t let that fool ya, he’s strong. He blocks shots and grabs the ball when it bounces off the rim. He’s still learnin’, but he’s got potential, you can see it. They say he’s gonna be a real star someday. I hope so, seems like a nice young man.
And then there’s Jarrett Allen. He’s the center, the big man in the middle. He’s real tall and strong, like a bull. He gets all them rebounds, you know, when the ball don’t go in the net. He’s good at dunkin’ too. He just jumps up and slams the ball right down. It’s excitin’ to watch, even for an old lady like me.
For that small forward spot, well, that’s where it gets tricky. Folks been talkin’ about this Dean Wade fella. He seems alright, not flashy like them other fellas, but he works hard. He can shoot a bit, and he’s not afraid to get in there and mix it up. He might not be the best, but he gives it his all. They also got some other fellas they might put in there, depends on who’s playin’ good, I reckon.
- Small Forward: Dean Wade or someone else, they got plenty of fellas
- Power Forward: Evan Mobley
- Center: Jarrett Allen
So that’s the lineup, the fellas who start the games. But it ain’t just about them, you know. Basketball’s a team sport. They got other fellas on the bench, waitin’ for their turn. And they gotta all work together if they wanna win. It’s like when we used to have barn raisings, everyone had to pitch in, even old Ma Johnson with her bad back.
The Cavaliers, they won somethin’ big a few years back, a championship they called it. Folks in Cleveland went wild, hoorin’ and hollerin’ like they’d won the lottery. It was somethin’ special. They ain’t done so good lately, but maybe this year will be different. They got good players, young and energetic. They just gotta play together and not get too cocky.
I don’t know much about all them basketball rules and fancy plays. I just like to watch them runnin’ and jumpin’ and puttin’ that ball in the net. It’s good entertainment, better than watchin’ them soap operas, that’s for sure. And it’s nice to see the young fellas doin’ somethin’ they love, even if it does make me a little dizzy sometimes.
So, there you have it, the Cleveland Cavaliers starting lineup, as best as this old lady can tell ya. Don’t take my word for it, though. Go watch a game yourself, see what you think. And if you see me there, don’t be a stranger, come say hello. I’ll be the one with the big ol’ bag of popcorn, cheerin’ on them fellas in the wine and gold, even if half the time I don’t know what the heck is goin’ on.
Go Cavs! That’s what them young folks say, right? Go Cavs!
