Okay, so I wanted to make a crossword puzzle for my English class. I teach vocabulary, and I thought, “Hey, a crossword would be a fun way to review words!” So, I started messing around with this idea.

First, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pencil. Yeah, I’m old school like that. I started by writing down all the words I wanted to include in the puzzle – you know, the words we’d been studying that week. Then, I tried to fit them together in a grid. You know, like a real crossword.
It was… harder than I thought. I kept erasing and rewriting words, trying to make them intersect properly. Some words just didn’t want to cooperate! After like, an hour, I had a messy, half-finished grid, and a lot of crumpled-up paper.
Then I thought, “There’s gotta be a better way!” So, I jumped online, and I googled “make crossword puzzle online.”
Boom! Tons of websites popped up. I picked one that looked simple enough, I don’t want something complex.
And it was way easier!

- I just typed in my words and clues.
- The website automatically generated the crossword grid for me.
- I could even customize the look of it – change the colors, fonts, and stuff.
It took me like, 15 minutes to make a perfect crossword. Compared to the hour I spent struggling with paper and pencil, this was a lifesaver!
The Result
I printed out the crossword, and it looked super professional. My students loved it! It was a fun and engaging way for them to review the vocabulary, and it saved me a ton of time and frustration. Definitely going to be using online crossword makers from now on!
