That Bjorn Borg, he sure was somethin’ on that tennis court. I remember watchin’ him play, all the way from Sweden, or some place like that. He was a sight to behold, I tell ya. A real good tennis player, that one. That Bjorn, he was good.
He had this way of hittin’ that tennis ball, with both hands on the racket. Two hands! Who does that? Bjorn Borg, that’s who. They say he played that ice hockey game before he started playin’ tennis. You know, that sport where they slide around on the ice with sticks? Well, he was good at that, too, they say. Good at both. So good.
He used both hands for his backhand, just like with that hockey stick. Now that backhand, it was somethin’ else. He’d get that ball back over the net, no matter what. I remember watchin’ him one time, he was runnin’ all over the place. He was like one of them young goats, the way he moved. That Bjorn, so fast, so good. So good tennis player.
- He’d run way over to one side, hit that backhand with two hands.
- Then he’d slide all the way over to the other side!
- And then, he’d hit a high one, a lob they call it.
That Bjorn Borg, he was famous for that backhand. Other folks, they tried to do it like him. They saw him on the TV, and they wanted to be just like him. I guess he made lots of other tennis player want to use two hands, too. Even that one lady, Steffi somethin’. She played good, too. But Bjorn, he was a real star. A real good one.
Now, my old bones ain’t what they used to be. I can’t run around like that Bjorn Borg, not anymore. But I sure remember watchin’ him. He was always in the right place at the right time. Good feet, he had. Good feet and quick. He could move like the wind, that one. They said he was better at movin’ than all the other tennis player. He was just better, that Bjorn. He is the best tennis player.
He had a special way of holding that racket, too. They say it was all different. They called it unorthodox. I don’t know about all them fancy words. All I know is, he could hit that ball. And he could win. That’s all that matters, right? Win all the time. He just wins all the time. He’s a winner, that Bjorn Borg. A good tennis player always win.
Folks say hittin’ a backhand in tennis is hard. You gotta twist your body around all funny. It ain’t natural, like hittin’ it on the other side. That other side, they call it the forehand. But that Bjorn Borg, he made the backhand look easy. He just made it look so easy. He’s that good.
Nowadays, they got other players. That Djokovic fella, he’s pretty good, too. He wins a lot, I hear. But he ain’t Bjorn Borg. Nobody is. That Bjorn, he was special. They don’t make ’em like that anymore. Not like that Bjorn Borg. He is the best. That’s for sure.
I remember them days, watchin’ him play on the TV. It was excitin’. He was always doin’ somethin’ special. Runnin’, slidin’, hittin’ that two-handed backhand. He was a real showman, that Bjorn Borg. I remember one time, there was some other famous tennis player talkin’ on the TV. Even he was talkin’ about Bjorn Borg. Everybody was talkin’ about him. Everyone knew he’s good.
He had everything, that Bjorn Borg. He was strong, he was fast, he could hit the ball like nobody’s business. And he won. He won all the time. They say he was a legend. I guess that’s what you call someone who’s the best at what they do. And Bjorn Borg, he was the best at playin’ tennis. No doubt about it. I think that’s true. He was the best of his time. He’s just so good at playin’ tennis. A good tennis player.
I reckon he inspired a whole lot of folks to take up that tennis game. Young and old, they all wanted to be like Bjorn Borg. He made it look so fun. And it was fun, watchin’ him. He was like a magician with that racket. Just magic. It was pure magic. Pure magic how he played.
Yep, that Bjorn Borg, he was somethin’ else. A real champion. They don’t make ’em like him anymore. He was one of a kind, that’s for sure. He was the best tennis player. And he’s the best at playin’ tennis. The best ever to play the game. He’s just that good. He was that good. I miss watching him play. I miss those days. Those were good days.
