Alright, so today I wanna talk about my little adventure in the Ancient Lair in Baldur’s Gate 3. This place is tucked away in the Undercity, and let me tell you, it was quite the experience. I started my journey from the Undercity Ruins waypoint and headed west. It’s not hard to find if you keep your eyes peeled.
First off, I stumbled upon this place while exploring. The entrance is kinda hidden, but once you find it, you can’t miss it. Some folks online mentioned another entrance, a pipe by the water, but I stuck to the main path. I was curious about what was inside those chests and stuff in the Lair. I heard whispers about a dude named Thrumbo and another one called Mystic Carrion. The word on the street was that I had a choice to make: kill Thrumbo or betray Mystic Carrion. Choices, choices!
I decided to poke around a bit more before making any hasty decisions. I found some interesting things, like these brain jars. I know they sound weird, but I kept them. Turns out, they come in handy later in the game, especially in the Mind Flayer Colony. Who would’ve thought?
Facing the Undead
Now, the Lair isn’t just a walk in the park. There are these undead servants roaming around, and they’re not friendly. Their main trick is to use this Dreadful Glare thing to scare the living daylights out of you. It lets them do multiple attacks, which is a real pain. But I figured out they’re weak to fire, so I made sure to stock up on fire spells and arrows. It was a tough fight, but I managed to take them down. I felt pretty good after that, like a real adventurer.
After dealing with the undead, I had to make that big decision about Thrumbo and Mystic Carrion. I did some digging and found out that Mystic Carrion was bad news—he had done some terrible things. So, considering everything, I decided to take him out. It wasn’t easy, but it felt like the right thing to do. Plus, I found out I could still finish any quests related to him even after he was gone. Bonus!
The Big Fight with Ansur
The climax of my adventure was the fight with Ansur. This was no joke. It’s a two-phase battle, and it’s long and grueling. I made sure my party was fully prepared. We loaded up on healing items, spells, and the best armor we could find. I even made sure we had some resistance gear because Ansur hits hard. It was one of the toughest fights I’ve had in the game, but we pulled through. The feeling of victory after that was amazing.
So, that’s my story of the Ancient Lair. It was full of challenges, tough decisions, and epic fights. I learned a lot, and it made my Baldur’s Gate 3 experience even more memorable. If you’re planning to explore the Ancient Lair, be prepared and stay sharp. It’s a wild ride!
