Alright, so fantasy season rolled around again, and I needed a solid team name. Managed to snag Zay Flowers in the draft, felt pretty good about that, so obviously, the name had to revolve around him. Gotta represent your guys, right?
My Process for Finding a Name
First, I just sat there, trying to think of something clever off the top of my head. You know how it is. Initial thoughts were pretty basic. Stuff like ‘Zay Flowers Power Hour’ or ‘Planting Zay’. Kinda weak, honestly. Nothing really jumped out.
Needed more firepower. So, I did what most folks do, I guess. Fired up the computer and started digging around online for ideas. Typed in variations of ‘Zay Flowers fantasy football names’ and just started scrolling through whatever came up. Lotta noise out there.
Sorting Through the Puns
Man, the flower puns. They were everywhere. Some were alright, some were just… bad. Here’s the kind of stuff I was seeing:
- Zay My Name, Zay My Name
- April Showers Bring Zay Flowers
- Where Have All the Flowers Gone?
- Zay-niac
- Giving Me Flowers
Some of these were okay starters, but still felt a bit generic. Everyone’s gonna have a flower pun, you know? I wanted something that felt a little more like my team.
I spent a good bit of time just looking through different suggestions, mixing and matching bits I liked. Tried combining his name with other players, or maybe a team theme, but kept coming back to just focusing on him. He’s the shiny new toy, gotta feature him.
Landing on Something
After messing around for a while, maybe half an hour or so, I started jotting down a few that didn’t make me cringe. Played around with the wording. Shortened some, lengthened others. You gotta say them out loud, see how they feel.
Eventually, I narrowed it down. Found one that clicked. Can’t remember exactly which one I picked last season, the brain’s getting foggy, but the process was the main thing. Just digging through the obvious stuff, tossing out the lame puns, and trying to find that one that feels right. It’s more effort than you’d think sometimes, just for a silly fantasy name, but hey, gotta get it right.
