Alright, guys, so I’ve been grinding hard in Destiny 2 lately, specifically chasing that perfect Walking Vigil. I’m talking about the “god roll,” the one that makes you feel like a walking, talking, hand-cannon-wielding deity. Let me tell you, the journey was… something.

The Initial Spark
It all started when I saw some Crucible highlights, some dude just melting faces with a Walking Vigil. I’d always kinda written it off, figured it was just another decent hand cannon. Boy, was I wrong. I checked out the possible perk combinations and realized, with the right roll, this thing could be an absolute monster. That’s when the obsession began.
The Grind Commences
First, I needed to actually get a Walking Vigil. I knew it dropped from the Dreaming City activities. So, I started hammering out those.
- Blind Well: Spent hours in there, sometimes with a fireteam, sometimes solo. It was chaos, let me tell you. waves of enemies, dodging, blasting…and the occasional drop. Most were trash, though.
- Ascendant Challenges: Okay, these were a pain. Had to look up guides, practice the jumps, and I swear, some of those platforms were designed by a sadist. But I Persisted.
- Weekly Story Missions: These were a bit more chill, at least compared to the other stuff. Still, week after week, I chipped away, hoping for that one special drop.
- Shattered Throne: A whole different beast. I joined some helpful sherpas I found, and Man, this dungeon is tough but rewarding! I finally saw some really good rolls.
The Disappointments (Many, Many Disappointments)
I can’t even count how many Walking Vigils I dismantled. Seriously. It was a river of disappointment. Rolls with perks like “Hip-Fire Grip” and “Genesis”… I mean, come on! Who needs that on a hand cannon? I was starting to question my sanity, my life choices, everything.
I even started to keep a little notebook, jotting down the perks I got. Pathetic, I know, but it helped me keep track. Columns for “Perk 1,” “Perk 2,” “Masterwork”… it was like a sad little spreadsheet of failure.
The Breakthrough
Then, it finally happened. I remember it perfectly. I was in the Blind Well, not even really paying attention anymore, just going through the motions. We finished a round, and boom, there it was. A Walking Vigil. I hovered over it, my heart rate kicking up. And then I saw it:

- Opening shot
- Kill Clip
- Range Masterwork
I almost screamed. I inspected it, I tested it, I finally did it!.
This is the roll I have been looking for, I can feel I become more powerful.
The Aftermath
Getting that god roll was like a weight lifted. I took it straight into the Crucible, and it was glorious. The crispy two-taps, the range, the power. It was everything I’d hoped for. All those hours of grinding, all that frustration, it was finally worth it.
So, yeah, that’s my Walking Vigil story. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the grind is worth it. Sometimes, you just gotta keep pushing, keep hoping, and eventually, you’ll get that sweet, sweet loot. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some Guardians to demolish.
