Alright, so you wanna hear about this tennis match, huh? Ben Shelton versus Jordan Thompson. I watched it, that’s for sure. Don’t know much about them fancy tennis rules, but I know a good fight when I see one.
First off, this Shelton fella, he’s American, I think. Young whippersnapper, real energetic. Reminds me of my grandson, always running around like a chicken with its head cut off. He hits that ball hard, though, gotta give him that. Powerful, they call it. Yeah, powerful like a mule kickin’.
Then there’s this Thompson guy. Seems a bit older, more steady. Not as flashy as Shelton, but he gets the job done. Keeps the ball in play, makes Shelton work for every point. He’s like that old tractor in my barn – reliable, gets you where you need to go, even if it ain’t pretty.
The match, well, it wasn’t no walk in the park for either of them. Started off close, real close. They went back and forth, point after point. Then, I think it was Shelton who lost the first set. Yeah, in one of them tiebreaker things. Don’t ask me how those work, it’s all numbers and stuff. Confuses the heck outta me.
But Shelton, he didn’t give up. That boy’s got grit, I tell ya. He came back strong in the second set. Started hitting even harder, running faster. Thompson, he fought back, but Shelton was just too much. Won the second set, tied things up.
Now, the third set, that was the real nail-biter. Back and forth again, just like the first. Felt like it could go either way. My heart was thumpin’ like a drum solo! But Shelton, he pulled it out in the end. Won the third set, won the match. Six-seven, six-four, six-four, I think that’s how they said it.
- Shelton’s got the power, no doubt about it. Hits that ball like a rocket.
- Thompson’s a fighter, keeps the ball in play, makes you work.
- The match was close, real close. Coulda gone either way.
- Shelton came back strong after losing the first set. Showed some real guts.
They said this match was in Dallas. That’s way out west, ain’t it? Never been there myself. Too far for this old lady. But I can watch it on that TV thingy, that’s good enough for me.
They also said somethin’ about Tokyo. Guess they played there too. These tennis folks travel all over the world, it seems. Must be nice, seein’ all them different places. Me, I’m happy right here in my little house, watchin’ my stories and sippin’ my tea.
So, yeah, that’s the match in a nutshell. Shelton won, but Thompson put up a good fight. It was exciting, kept me on the edge of my seat. Good, clean fun, that’s what it was. And that young Shelton, he’s somethin’ special, I reckon. Gonna be a big star one day, if he keeps playin’ like that.
This was in 2024, they played. And in 2023 too, seems like they play a lot against each other, these two boys. Well, good for them, keeps them busy. Better than sittin’ around doin’ nothin’, that’s for sure.
This Shelton, he was born in 2002, just a baby! He’s got that “On” company sponsorin’ him. Must be makin’ good money, this boy. Good for him, work hard, play hard, that’s what I always say.
They said Shelton is ranked number 13 or somethin’, and Thompson is 44. I don’t know much about these rankings, but sounds like Shelton is pretty good. He’s gonna go far, I betcha.
Anyway, that’s all I got to say about it. If you wanna know more, go watch it yourself. It’s on that internet thingy, I think. My grandson showed me how to use it once, but I mostly just watch my soap operas.
