Okay, so I’ve been seeing this name, Ben Shelton, popping up everywhere in the tennis world lately. Naturally, I got curious about what gear this rising star is using. I mean, if it works for him, maybe there’s something to it, right? So, I decided to do a little digging and see what all the fuss is about, and let me tell you, it was quite the journey.
Start from Zero
First things first, I started where everyone starts these days – the internet. I typed in “Ben Shelton tennis apparel” and got bombarded with results. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one curious about his gear. It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest. So many websites, so many options. Where to even begin? I just clicked a few links randomly, and they were all like “Shop the most current gear of Ben Shelton” or “Shop Ben Shelton T-shirts sold by independent artists”.
Deep into it
I narrowed down my search a bit and focused on the brands he’s associated with. Turns out, he recently switched to this Swiss brand called “On”. I’d seen the name before, I think, in some of those sports articles, they said that “Rising American tennis star Ben Shelton will wear Swiss Brand On’s clothing and shoes starting in 2023”. They also said that “Shelton was previously wearing Nike and New Balance shoes.” I knew Roger Federer is involved with them somehow. That got me interested. I mean, if it’s good enough for Federer, it must be pretty decent, right?
Then I stumbled upon this article talking about how Ben Shelton and Iga Świątek, another big name in tennis, both signed deals with “On”. It said, “Calling all Iga Swiatek and Ben Shelton fans: You’ll soon be able to take the court in your own tennis matches wearing the same On kits as your favorite players.” This must be a big deal then. I read that “On Monday, the sportswear company signed head-to-toe apparel deals with WTA world No. 1 Iga Świątek and ATP No. 39 Ben Shelton.” So, they are the latest professional tennis stars to sign brand deals with the Swiss company “On”. I was starting to feel like a real tennis insider with all this info!
Found Something
I decided to check out the “On” website and see what they had. Let me tell you, their stuff looks pretty sleek. I was particularly interested in their shoes. I saw some models that were specifically mentioned as being used by Ben Shelton. They had all these fancy names and descriptions. And then I searched for more, they were like, “Tennis gear used and inspired by US Open semi-finalist Ben Shelton. – including Adult Racquets, Men’s Tennis Shoes, Men’s Pickleball Shoes, Tennis String Sets, Tennis String Reels.” And, “All prices incl. VAT. The crossed-out prices always correspond to the manufacturer’s RRP. Exceptions to this are the brands Quiet Please, Tennis-Point.” I also found out that he was on Noah Rubin’s podcast, “Behind the Racquet”. Wow, so many things!
Finally Bought it
After much debate, I finally decided to take the plunge and ordered a pair of shoes and some shirts. I figured, why not? If I’m going to play tennis, I might as well try out the gear that the pros are using. Plus, they looked pretty cool, not gonna lie. And a few days later, my order arrived! I was so excited to try them on. The shoes felt amazing, super light and comfortable. The shirts were also really nice, breathable, and fit perfectly. I felt like a pro just wearing them, haha!
My Feeling
I’ve been using them for a few weeks now, and I have to say, I’m impressed. The shoes provide great support and grip on the court, and the shirts keep me cool and dry even during intense matches. I can see why Ben Shelton and other pros choose to wear this brand. It’s definitely a step up from my old gear.
So, there you have it, my little adventure into the world of Ben Shelton’s tennis apparel. It was a fun ride, and I learned a lot along the way. Who knew that researching tennis gear could be so interesting? Maybe I should do this more often. Anyway, if you’re looking for some new tennis gear, I definitely recommend checking out the “On” brand. You might just find your new favorite shoes or shirts!
