Okay, so I’ve been digging into Baldur’s Gate 3 again, and this time I wanted to really nail down a solid Barbarian build. Specifically, I was on the hunt for the absolute best armor for my raging warrior. Let me tell you, it’s been a journey!
The Early Game Struggle
At first, I was just grabbing whatever I could find. You know, the usual leather scraps and padded bits that goblins drop. I even rocked some scale mail for a while, thinking I was all tough. But my Barbarian, bless his heart, was still getting smacked around pretty hard. I realized quickly that I needed a more, uh, strategic approach to his wardrobe.
Experimenting with Medium Armor
I knew I didn’t want to go full heavy armor. It messes with the Barbarian’s Rage and movement bonuses, which are kind of their whole deal. So, I started playing around with medium armor sets.
- Githyanki Half Plate: Found some of this early on. Not bad, decent AC, but nothing special.
- Scale Mail +1: This was a step up! The +1 to AC made a noticeable difference, and I liked that it didn’t restrict my movement too much.
- Adamantine Scale Mail: Alright, this stuff is great. Reduces all incoming damage, which is a lifesaver, I made sure to create one.
The Late Game Powerhouses
After some serious adventuring (and a few near-death experiences), I finally got my hands on some truly awesome gear.
- Bonespike Garb: I can make my barbarian goes naked with this. When you rage, it makes enemies get hurt when they manage to hit you.
- Armor of Persistence: It reducing all damage and give +2 to saving throws, so I think this is perfect for my barb.
My Final Verdict
For my playstyle, focusing on high damage output and survivability. It kept my Barbarian alive through some seriously tough fights, and the resistance to all damage is just amazing, so my final choice is Armor of Persistence.
Honestly, there’s no single “best” armor. It really depends on your build and how you like to play. But hopefully, my little experiment helps you find the perfect fit for your own Barbarian!
